The Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte, in addition to running a $3 million annual campaign, conducts outreach to various demographic groups to build community and develop future leaders. Did you know the Federation’s Outreach efforts include the following? Newcomer Schmoozes New city, new friends, new way of life. Join us to learn more about the Jewish com munity while meeting new Mends. Upcoming Dates: February 25, March 25 in the Weinberg Center at the Levine JCC; April 29 in Alio, adjacent to Expressions: Israeli Art Show and Sale, all from 10 AM-noon. Sponsored in partner ship with the Levine JCC. Ladies Nights Out An outgrowth of the Newcomer Schmoozes designed to help Jewish women of all ages connect with one another. Upcoming Dates: Sunday, March 18; Newcomer tables will be set aside at the com munity-wide Women’s Seder, 5 PM at the Levine JCC. Sponsored in partnership with the Levine JCC. Shaiom Baby Helping families with babies get connected to our Jewish community. Upcoming Dates: Wednesday, February 7, Roller Stroller, 10-11:30 AM at Kate’s Skating Rink, 14500 Independence Blvd., Indian Trail, NC 28079, 704-821- 7465. $5 per adult, payable at the rink. (The fee covers skates and rink time.) This is a private event; Kate’s Skating Rink is opening just for us. Uptowners Uptowners: Nosh and Network is a monthly lunch and learn program designed to involve members of the busi ness and professional commu nity. Tuesday, February 20, Alan Gordon, Chairman of the Mayor’s Ifnmigration Study Commission, will give us con text for his study and its find ings, and will lead us in a dis cussion about immigration to Charlotte; noon-1 PM at the Light Factory’s Knight Gallery in Spirit Square, College Ave. and 7th Street. Ladies 'Night Out The Bernstein Leadership Group (BLG) The BLG is the Jewish Federation’s 18-month leader ship program seeking to pre pare the next generation of leaders (45 and under) to address the needs of our rapid ly changing Jewish communi ty. Through monthly sessions, speakers, retreats and group projects, the BLG enhances participants’ understanding of their Jewish identity and its effect on their leadership roles in the Jewish community and beyond. The application process for the sixth class, running from January 2007 through May 2008, is now closed. Recruitment for the seventh class will begin in summer 2008.
