The Expressions exhibit, spon sored by the Israeli government and founded in 1985, tours over 125 artists’ work around the United States and Canada. The exhibit includes sculpture, weaving, ceramics, watercolors, oils, mosaics and jewelry by both native Israelis and emigres from the former Soviet Union and Ethiopia. Jewelry is a major seller with amazing prices for “one of a kind” masterpieces. Artists in the exhibit have works in local gal leries as well, but are seen in the Expressions exhibit for less. Some artists highlighted are Dorit Levi, Ben Simhon and Orlando, Dima Gorban, Yuri Tremler, Reaphael Abukassis, Itzhak “Izzy” Assour, Totla Imbar, Ruth Bloch, Yuval Mahler, and Michael Gorban. The Art Show and Sale will be held at Shalom Park, located at 5007 Providence Road, during the week of April 22-29. For more information, please contact Aree Pearlman at 704-944-6792. Both the Levine JCC and the Jewish Federation are sponsoring Hebrew Cemetery Association By Lorrie Klemons, publicity The winter will soon fade away to the beautiful springtime, a sea son for renewal and rebirth. What better way to welcome in the spring than to commit to the con tinued renewal of the only Jewish cemetery in town- the Hebrew Cemetery of Charlotte. In making that commitment it is as though you give renewal to all of those departed souls of blessed memory who are buried there. Don’t be misled by other ceme teries in town that offer “Jewish sections.” The Hebrew Cemetery of Charlotte is the only location in town that guarantees the sacred ness, holiness and ritual of the Jewish burial, supervised, orches trated and administrated by your fellow Jews. The Cemetery Association is a non-profit committee of Jewish volunteers who care about the sanctity and dignity of those who precede us in eternal life. We believe that the cemetery is a Beit Olim, a house of two worlds...a sacred domain where the two worlds meet with a kiss: the world going out and the future coming in. It doesn’t take much to ensure that this sanctified and holy domain is perpetuated for all time. The remittance of tax-deductible annual dues of $72 will list your name amongst the other 800+ Charlottean Jews who are com mitted to maintaining a holy rest ing place for their fellow Jews, including a special area for cre mated remains and interfaith cou ples. Your paid membership for a minimum of two years provides you and your family with all of the membership benefits. For more information about these membership benefits, graves, prepaid funeral costs, and endowment/general donations, call Cemetery Director Joe Kodsi at 704-364-4112. If you have already pre-purchased a grave site for a loved one, please call Joe and provide him with the full name of the person for whom the grave was purchased. 4* Life changes.
