The Barbara and Jerry Levin Jewish Middle School is undergo ing a change this year, and it’s a very exciting time for the school. First of all, I would like to infro- duce Sandy Hirschman, who will be taking over my current position as Middle School Administrator. Sandy comes to the school with many years of experience working with middle school students. She is a language arts specialist, but is excited about lending her skills from the classroom to the admin istrative side of school life. As for me, I just couldn’t say goodbye just yet. So I’ve decided to stick around for the upcoming school year to teach math and sci ence to the middle school stu dents. In addition, I will be taking on a new challenge as the Kindergarten through fifth grade PE teacher at CJDS for the com ing school year as well. I am excited to be able to focus my attentions back towards educating the students, and look forward to a wonderful year with Sandy lead ing the ship. A Message from the Levin Middle School’s New Administrator By Sandy Hirschman Shalom. I am so excited to be joining the Shalom Park family. After more than thirty years of experience in middle schools, both public and pri vate, it is clear to me that The Barbara and Jerry Levin Jewish Middle School is a gem truly geaied to the special and vary ing needs of middle school youngsters. I will work to build on the school’s strengths so that it continues to develop into the epitome of the middle school model. Several exciting innovations will be introduced in the 2007- 2008 school year. Every stu dent in the Levin Middle School will have a personal laptop computer to use both in school and at home. Our use of technology in the classroom will be further enhanced as we begin to teach and learn with our newly-installed Smart Board. I believe middle school stu dents should be given some opportunities to choose the courses they take; hence, we are working hard this summer to expand our slate of interest ing, relevant, and creative elec tives. We are also working to con tinue, and build on, the well- received and unique physical education program the middle school offered last year. Once school is underway, we will give you more information about these and other programs that make The Barbara and Jerry Levin Jewish Middle School such a unique, exciting, and academically outstanding place for young tweens and teens. Please come by to find out more about the Barbara and Jerry Levin Jewish Middle School or just to say “hi.” I’m looking forward to meeting you. L’hitraot. If you have any questions about The Barbara and Jerry Levin Jewish Middle School, please contact Sandy Hirschman at 704-366-4558 or shirschman@cjdschool.org.
