Temple Israel Announces the 5768
Pilgrimage to Eastern Europe and Israel
Join Temple Israel’s New
Shabbat Experience
Temple Israel’s annual Israel
Pilgrimage was announced Erev
Yom Kippur. This year’s trip is
being planned by Mann Travel and
Israel Tour Connection (ITC). The
excursion begins with a tour of
Prague followed by Shabbat with
Prague’s Masorti (Conservative)
congregation and the
Jerusalemska Synagogue. The
group will visit Terezin and visit
the Czech, Slovakian and
Hungarian countryside, followed
by a tour of Buda and Pest.
Temple Israel’s visit to Israel
begins Erev Shabbat in Jerusalem.
The week in Israel will include the
new Shrine of the Book at the
Israel Museum. Options for first
time visitors and returnees will be
included as part of the tour pack
age in Israel. From the North to
Masada, fi-om the 11th Century
BCE to the present and a glimpse
of the future, from the religious
expressions of the Temple of
Solomon to mystic Tzefat and the
vibrant Masorti community of
Israel, the culture, history, evolu
tion of Jewish religious life will be
combined with interfaith dia
logues and study. The trip runs
from July 24 through August 8.

Shabbat Around the World
began Friday evening October 19.
Dozens of families of Charlotte’s
Jewish Community celebrated
Shabbat - Italian Style. Erev
Shabbat services included
descriptions of the Italian Jewish
Community, followed by a won
derful Italian Shabbat dinner. As
the year continues Shabbat expe
riences will include Israeli Style
(December 21), Indian style
(February 15), Sephardic style
(April 18), American style (May
23), and Chinese style (June 20).
