Remember Malak Jewelers for Engagements, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Bridal, Baby Gifts, Bar & Bat Mitzvahs As many Jews headed to Alabama to march side by side with African Americans during the Civil Rights Era to join in the fight for freedom and justice, Temple Beth El will celebrate the Shabbat preceding the birthday of the late Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. by warmly welcoming their broth ers and sisters from Saint Paul Baptist Church into their midst. Dr. Gregory Moss, Sr. will deliver an inspired sermon reflecting on issues of joint concern to the Jewish and African American community and Saint Paul Baptist Church’s spirited and spiritual choir will join together with Beth El’s choir to lift the community’s prayers heavenward on the wings of song. The MLK Shabbat serv ice is consistently a highlight of Beth El’s year - from the gifted voices of the two choirs, the warmth of the two congregations, and the consistently passionate sermons of guest preachers — this year promises to be no different. Pastor Moss received his Bachelor of Arts from University of North Carolina at Charlotte, his Masters degree of Theology from Southeastern Theological Seminary, and his Doctorate of Ministry from McCormick Theological Seminary. For ten years, Dr. Moss has led his vibrant and growing congregation. He has a heart for God, a heart for service and a heart for people. Pastor Moss and his church, like Beth El, are committed to addressing the ills and issues of our day.
