No Rain For Your Garden - Now What?
Sharon Hockfield of Plantin’
Plans tells us how to adapt our
gardens to the current conditions.
Though 2007 was the toughest
year ever to garden in Piedmont
North Carolina, it is still possible
to have a gorgeous garden. Sharon
will present tips on wise water
usage, turf, containers, and current
design trends that will help ensure
success in your garden. She prom
ises to share her list of favorite
drought tolerant plants.
Sharon is a garden consultant
and designer in Charlotte. A for
mer teacher, she enjoys coaching
do-it-yourself gardeners. She is an
active Master Gardener volunteer.

Coming Attractions for “Chapters,” the
Book Group at Temple Beth El
On Sunday April 6, we will dis
cuss our April selection. The Book
Thief hy Markus Zusak , at 3 PM'
in the Chapel at Temple Beth El.
Narrated by Death, this book -
recommended by book club mem
bers and discussed at Temple
Israel’s book group late last year -
is about the interplay between two
very unlikely characters.
The story takes place in a small
town outside Munich from 1939-
1945. Categorized as Juvenile
Fiction, it is nevertheless visually
rich, compelling, and memorable
with well developed characters.
“Trying to make sense of the
horrors of World War II, Death
relates the story of Liesel - a
young Gemian girl whose book
stealing and story-telling talents
help sustain her family and the
Jewish man they are hiding, as
well as their neighbors,” says the
Charlotte Mecklenburg Public
Library.
We hope you’ll join us that
afternoon as TBE Sisterhood
President, Ivy Saul, leads us in
discussion. Comments or ques
tions? Contact Lynne Cojac 704-
541-3358 or LCojac@aoI.com.

Auditorium, E. H. Little Fine Arts

You do not want to miss this

Vanguard Classics released Leon
Fleisher’s first “two-handed”
recording in over 40 years, enti
tled “Two Hands,” to critical
acclaim. “Two Hands” is also
the title of a short documentary
on Fleisher by Nathaniel Kahn
which was nominated for an
Academy Award for best short
subject on January 23, 2007.
Fleisher received the 2007
Kennedy Center Honors.
Kennedy Center Chairman
Stephen A. Schwarzman
described him as “a consum
mate musician whose career is
a moving testament to the life-
affirming power of art.”
