In twelve hours, 69 volunteers representing twelve agencies closed 455 gifts and raised $84,642. “We're not asking a lot, we’re asking a latte” was the theme for Super Sunday 2008. A huge thank you goes to Starbucks for donating 150 gift cards to thank donors making increased or new gifts. The gift cards could be used for any beverage of any size of the donor's choice - including lattes. Starbucks also generously provided coffee for all of our volunteers throughout the day. Special thanks go to Phil’s Deli for donating breakfast for our volunteers, and to Ii^zy's Cafe and Catering for donating dinner. We thank Action Plus for donating “Live Generously” tee shirts for all of our campaigners. To relieve our volunteers’ “stress,” Sheila G Wade, Massage Therapist, LMBT #4528 and Genie Williams, Massage Therapist, LMBT #3510 offered chair massages throughout the morning and evening hours. To thank our volunteers for their support and hard work, names were drawn throughout the day for prizes and gift cer tificates generously donated by Action Plus, Maddis’ Gallery, Amy Scitlin Brown and Elaine Moody. Super Sunday co-chairs Stephanie Brodsky, Amy Seitlin Brown and Elaine Moody wanted to make the day fUn for the volunteers who called between the hours of 9 AM-1 PM and 5-9 PM. All throughout the day, bells were ringing as solicitors signaled each other that a gift had been closed. Volunteers made phone calls, wrote thank you notes and assisted in the effort to call over 2,000 people. Special satellite stations were set up on Main Street and at the entrance to the Levine JCC Gym from 9 AM-5 PM to create aware ness for Super Sunday and to make it easy for donors to make a pledge. The satellite stations were enhanced by the beautiful balloon bouquets made by Creative Events. Donors making a pledge at the satel lite stations were given “I made my pledge on Super Sunday” stickers to wear. Another innovative idea for this year’s Super Sunday was a 24-hour 2008 Pledge Hotline. Donors were able to call in their pledges if they were unable to answer the call. In order to thank and speak with each donor personally, the Federation attempts to reach everyone by phone or in person. However, if you were out and unable to “answer the call” you can make your pledge by calling the Federation office at 704-944-6757 or by visiting the Federation website at www.jewishchar- lotte.org. The mission of the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte is to raise and distribute funds to support and enrich the lives of Jews locally, nationally, in Israel and worldwide. Through education, planning and community’ building, the Federation ^ mission ensures that Jewish values, goals, traditions and connec tions are preserved for current and fiiture generations.
