^ J The Jewish community was there every step of the way* In five years I really have come a long way, thanks to the Federation and all the help theyVe given me. -WENDY FREEMAN Wendy Freeman, a schoolteacher and single parent of two teenagers, turned to the Jewish Federation when she needed help and her kids needed counseling after her divorce. "They asked me, do I need help with housing? Do I need help with food? Do I need help with the holiday presents? One year, we got a bunch of Target gift cards from the Federation, and the kids got toys. But as my salary has gone up, I've pulled back on that, because there are needier people out there." For many people, Jewish poverty is an oxymoron. Yet 800,000 American Jews live at or near the poverty line. When they can't pay the rent or put food on the table, when they need job training, counseling, or childcare, they come to Federation. With your help, we will give them hope. r I' www.jewishcharlotte.org 704-944-6757 JEWISH^ FEDE^RATIONS OF GRGATEn CHARLOTTE Local, Global, Eternal
