The Charlotte Jewish News -September 2008 - Page 2 JEWISH FEDERATION NEWS i ^ Introducing the Women’s i i i i i i t i y I Professional Network The Jewish Federation is pleased to present a new initiative - The Women’s Professional Network. The new program is designed to give women the opportu nity to engage socially and connect with a cause. The Network will meet five times a year and is open to all profes sional women whether or not they are actively engaged in careers outside the home. On September 24, Belk’s will sponsor an inaugural event which will officially launch the new initiative. Women will gather in the St. John Department at the SouthPark store at 6:30 PM for network ing, wine and hors d’oeuvres. Guest Speaker Arlene Goldstein, Vice- President Trend Merchandising, F^hion Director, Belk, Inc., will offer her insight into the “Most Wanted Looks for Fall.” Belk’s will also provide dessert, goody bags and giveaways for this fantastic evening. A Steering Committee under the able leadership of Fern Ingber Epley has been meeting for several months to plan the new program. Other members of the committee are Cary Bernstein, Kelly Gaines, Pam Levy, Jenny Meiselman, Gale Osborne, Jane Rabinovitz, Linda Seigel and Jenny Stem. An after-work social was held at the Light Factory at Spirit Square on August 21 to introduce Charlotte’s first Jewish Women’s Professional Network and to leam more about what motivates and interests the women who attended. The mission of the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte is to raise and dis tribute funds to support and enrich the lives of Jews locally, nationally, in Israel and worldwide. Through education, planning and community building, the Federation’s mission ensures that Jewish values, goals, traditions and connections are preserved for current and future gen erations. The Women’s Professional Network is a function of the campaign and women will be asked to pledge a minimum of $180 per household to the Jewish Federation’s 2009 Annual Campaign. All women are invited to attend one meeting without obligation. Bernstein Leadership Development Program is proud to announce that Herb Greenman and Adina Loewensteiner are the co chairs for the upcoming year. Herb Greenman (BLG Class of 2008) grew up in Charlotte as a member of the Jewish community. After a long hiatus for higher education, he returned to Charlotte. He has been in private prac tice for the last four years with his twin brother and father at Greenman Eye Associates. He is a member of Temple Israel. In his spare time, he likes to lift weights, jog, and windsurf Adina Loewensteiner (BLG Class of 2008) moved to Charlotte via Boston. She currently works at Time Financial as an Insurance Case Manager. In addition to serving as co-chair of BLQ Adina heads up the Young Couples Club at Temple Israel and was very involved in Boston with Combined Jewish Philanthropies. Her hobbies include Gardening, walking, cooking, baking and spending time with her husband. She is a member of Temple Israel. The Leadership Program of the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte seeks to prepare the next generation of leaders to confront the needs of our rap idly changing Jewish community. The program will increase Jewish identity and its effect on roles as leaders within the Jewish community. In addition, participation in the leadership program will create a bond among our future leaders to foster strong working relationships today and for the future. If you are excited about these topics, we welcome your time, energy and commit ment. We invite you to join us to explore the relevant issues that affect our lives individually and as members of the worldwide Jewish community. Participants will meet to engage in discussions and participate in high qual ity programs presented by top-notch local and national authorities and Jewish leaders of our time. On Sunday, October 26 at 5 PM at Cajun Queen, 1800 E 7th Street, the Bernstein Leadership Group will be hosting a Preview Reception to acquaint those interested members of our Jewish community with more details about the program.
