The cost is $36 for the book; complimentary babysitting. Registration is required. In North America, at least 100,000 non-Jewish women are raising their children as Jews. These women deserve support, encouragement, and gratitude. The Mother’s Circle: The Course offers these women the support they need to transmit the Jewish tradition to their children. Now in its second year at Shalom Park, our professional facilitator will provide hands-on education in Jewish rituals, prac tices and ethics, with an emphasis on child-rearing. You will become more connected to the Jewish community, and able to participate in the National Mother’s Circle Listserv to share experiences in raising Jewish children. For more information please contact Stephanie DiPaolo at 704-749- 3051 or Jodi Valenstein at 704- 944-6730. Top Seven Questions About Temple Or Olam 7. Do you have your own building? Not yet, but, we expect, soon. Sharing space has been a blessing in disguise, though. We’ve been holding services at McGill Baptist Church in Concord, NC, and have formed a special relationship with this generous congregation. We’ve served at homeless shelters togeth er, and hold an annual joint Hanukkah/Christmas party. We plan to work with them bn many more worthwhile projects. 6. WhaCs going on this fall? A whole lot. We’re holding Kol Nidre service 7 PM on October 8, and Yom Kippur service 9:30 AM on October 9. Neilah service will be 6 PM, followed by a pot-luck breaking of the fast. This fall. Students learn conversa tional Hebrew with immersion techniques, and biblical Hebrew using Montessori-inspired manip- ulatives. They study Torah through spirited, in-depth debates, discussions, and even bibliodra- ma. They enjoy the family feel of the school and associate Jewish education with warmth and fun. 4. Vve heard you have some terrific music, ffltere can I hear it? It’s true. Contact us for infor mation on purchasing one of our CDs, or the DVD of our recent Beatles service. Check us out on youtube: www.youtube.com /user/ TempleOrOlam. But the best place to hear our music is at our servic es. 3. WhaCs so special about your family services? Held on the 2nd Friday of the month, we often use skits and storytelling to teach Torah. It’s not unusual for kids (and adults) to dance during prayers and songs. Occasionally, you will go home with a congre gant’s home-grown tomatoes or onions. That’s just the kind of thing that happens here. 2. Where can I hear the sound of the longest shofar in the region? Glad you asked. As far as we know, our magnificent 56” shofar is without comparison. You might hear the shofar sound any morning in the month of Elul in Concord as our shofar-blower pre pares, but to be absolutely sure, join us for Yom Kippur worship. 1. Can I play trombone in the shul band? Yes. (That is, if this isn’t a trick question. You can play the trombone, can’t you?) If you’ve got a musical instrument that you’d like to dust off we’d love to make music with you.
