The Charlotte Jewish News - November 2008 - Page 13 Community Mews Upcoming Events for Chavurah Without Walls Chavurah-Without-Walls wish es a Happy New Year to all the members of the Jewish communi ty. May the new cycle of renewal bring us greater understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of life and creation. Our Chavurah is a social group of Jews from all aspects of the Jew'ish com munity: Reform, Reconstructionist, Conservative and Orthodox. We hold monthly events which com bine social gatherings with a Jewish theme. The Chavurah meets in private homes and pro vides a warm and welcoming environment for friends to meet, chat, learn new things and discov er new things about Jewish cul ture. We have had game nights, book reviews, movies, talks ,dis cussions, dancing singing, Israeli Coffee Houses, and all kinds of Jewish activities-basically all things Jewish. There is always plenty of food and plenty of opportunity to meet new friends. During the coming year we hope to explore exciting Jewish ideas and cultures throughout the world. We will have food from the vari ous countries where Jews live and we will discuss what life is like for Jews in these countries. So, come join us on our adventure. Come eat with us and make friends with Chavurah members. Chavurah Without Walls generally meets the first Saturday night of each month. We also have an ongoing group, called Torah Without Walls, that . discusses the books of the Tanach. We are currently studying the Book of Prophets. That group meets the third Saturday night of each month. We present a list of activites that the Chavurah will present ovdr the coming months: November 1: Professor Poelvoorde: up to the moment politics of the upcoming election December 6: Israeli Coffee House-music dance song food of Israel in a night of fun January 17: Rabbi Mort Kaplan: The Uniqueness of Jewish History We hope to see you there. There are no dues for our Chavurah.
