In making the procla mation, McCrory spoke in great detail about his comfort and familiarity with the state of Israel, citing his personal expe riences on a visit there in the mid-1990s. The proclamation was signed at local Charlotte restaurant Nolia, located at 3^6 N. Caswell in Elizabeth. McCrory said Hadera offers opportunities for business rela tionships as well as school and cultural exchanges. He also cited Hadera’s energy-saving initiatives and suggested that Charlotte and Hadera can work together in such endeavors. Partnership 2000 Chair Susan Jacobs spoke about the history of the partnership with Hadera and the Jewish commu nity, acknowledging the many exchanges and relationships that have resulted from the eight- year association. McCrory will be joined by the mayor of Hadera in late December/early January for the official signing ceremony. Elliot Jager of The Jerusalem Post to Speak on December 17 The Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte’s Community Relations Council (JCRC) wel comes Elliot Jager, Op-Ed editor and columnist for The Jerusalem Post, to Charlotte on Wednesday evening, December 17, at 7 PM in the Sam Lemer Center for Cultural Arts at Shalom Park. Jager’s topic is “Security and Political Briefing: What mili tary, security and political insid ers are watching.” The event is free and open to the public. Elliot Jager was born and raised on New York’s Lower East Side where he attended the ultra-Orthodox yeshivot Chasan Sofer and the Mesiftha Tiffereth Jerusalem high-school. Jager made aliya in 1997 and (after working as a legal and technical writer in Tel Aviv) took his first job at The Jerusalem Post in 1999.
