The Israeh Dinner and a Movie night was very successful. An Israeli dinner catered by our chef, liana Rappaport, was delicious. Sales continued as we approached Pesach. We offered the largest selection in our wine sale history with over 40 varieties of wine. Thanks to Steve Weiner, owner of Vintner Wine Market in the Arboretum, you can continue to purchase wine throughout the year and he we will continue to donate a portion of the proceeds to Men’s Club. Be sure to mention that you are a member of Temple Israel. What a wonderful Men’s Club Shabbat. With over 40 participants I can not thank each one indi vidually but know that I appreciated all of your efforts. Your response when I asked for your par ticipation and donations was heartening. It was a lot of work for all of us but what a pay off A special thanks goes to Anne Weiss, Mary Reel, Sonny Addison and the kitchen staff for all that they did to make the luncheon the success that it was. A very special thank you to Myra Brinn who helped bake the over 1,000 cook ies, Lina Newman who also baked and came in on Friday to help set up all the trays and my wife Susan who baked, set-up and coordinat ed the desserts you all enjoyed. Michael Weiss worked diligent ly to make sure that each member family of Temple Israel, Temple Beth Shalom of Lake Norman and Congregation Emanuel of Statesville received one of the over eight hundred Yom Hashoah yellow candle boxes he put togeth er. Thank you Michael, for your hard work. The donations that congregants sent for these candles will help pay for the Hay class of Temple Israel to participate in a trip to The Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC. If you have not already sent in your donation, please do so as quickly as possi ble. Mother’s Day Brunch is com ing up on May 10 at 10 AM. This is the perfect way to show your Mom, wife, special friend or fam ily member, just how much you appreciate her. There is no charge for the special Mom in your life. All others pay the paltry fee of $5. Want to pay less? For each paying guest donate a non-perishable kosher food item and receive a $1 discount per paying guest.
