Lunch at the Park (LATP) is a JCRC initiative that brings local leaders to Shalom Park to
learn about the Charlotte Jewish community: who we are, what our needs are and how we
can build a partnership with each other On June 29, the JCRC welcomed the leadership
from both public and private schools in Union and Mecklenburg counties.

Brian Rosen Joins Temple Israel as
Youth Director
Temple Israel is pleased to
announce that Brian Rosen will
be taking over as Youth Director.
Brian was bom in Orlando, FL
where he was a member of
both USY and Kadima at
Congregation Ohev Shalom.
Growing up in a conservative
Jewish household, he values
Jewish traditions. After high
school, he went to the University
of South Carolina where he
received his degree in Sports
Management. Since then, he has
worked for the Pittsburgh Pirates
(Major League Baseball) and the
Carolina Panthers (National
Football League). With both
organizations, he worked within
their community relations and
youth development departments.
Brian has spent his entire life
working with kids, starting as a
volunteer in his mother’s special
education classroom. He also
puts in his time with youth
through summer camps, sports
organizations, and coaching.
Currently, Brian is the head var
sity volleyball coach at Charlotte
Country Day School.
As the new youth director,
Brian is looking forward to get
ting to know the children and
teenagers of Temple Israel, while
also building upon their Jewish
foundation through fun and
exciting social events. We will be
offering three exciting youth pro
grams: Jr. Kadima (4 th-5 th
grade), Kadima (6th-8th grade),
and USY (9th-12th grade). As the
school year approaches, Brian
plans on setting up small group
gatherings for everyone to get to
know each other and brainstorm
program ideas. During the 2009-
2010 year we plan on doing at
least one event per month for
each youth program, including
Disney Shabbat, whitewater raft
ing, camping, and much, much
more! You can find more infor
mation about our youth pro
grams by visiting our website at
www.tiyouth.com. If you have
any questions for Brian Rosen,
you may contact him via email at
brosen@templeisraelnc.org. ^
