Havurat Tikvah: Sukkot
and Our Torah’s First
Anniversary
The Question: With the High
Holidays behind us, can Sukkot
and Simchat Torah be far behind?
The Answer: Absolutely not;
and Havurat Tikvah plans to mark
the holidays in fine style.
Sukkot will be celebrated on
Saturday evening, October 3. In
keeping with a long-standing (and
delightful) Havurat Tikvah tradi
tion, we invite you to gather for a
pot-luck dinner, havdalah, and an
opportunity to wave the lulav and
etrog. We’ll meet under the stars
in a sukkah decorated by the chil
dren of the Havurat Tikvah
Sunday School. For information
about time and location, call us at
the number below or visit our
website.
Simchat Torah is especially joy
ous this year as it marks the first
anniversary of the arrival of the
havurah’s new Torah. Our hun
dred year old Torah came to us
from Poland via Israel and was
restored by Torah sofer Rabbi
Kevin Hale. We’ll observe the hol
iday on Saturday October 10.
Our celebration begins at 5:30
PM with another Havurat Tikvah
“Souper” Supper; homemade
soups, salad, a “kid-fi'iendly dish”
and dessert will be served. Charlie
Brown of Gastonia’s Temple
Emanuel will lead our song and
dance in a festive Simchat Torah
service. Services will be held at
our Dilworth “home” in the
Fellowship Hall of St. Andrews
Presbyterian Church, 2201
Springdale Ave. (at Magnolia).

heart of the novel.
With many plot strands that
