The Charlotte Jewish News - December 2009 - Page 11 Giant Chanukah Menorah at SouthPark Mall at Circle Court “Lights of Change” is how the Chanukah Menorah Lighting at SouthPark Mall is being promoted in the Charlotte Jewish communi ty. The huge menorah will be filled with coins which have been collected by eight Charlotte Jewish organizations and will be poured into the transparent arms of the menorah before it is kin dled. This is a fusion of the lights of the Chanukah candles and the brightness of the smiles the coins will bring to the needy. All coins collected will be distributed to Jewish Family Services of Charlotte and Crisis Assistance Ministry. The collection of coins began in early November by Temple Israel and Temple Beth El religious schools, Ohr HaTorah Talmud Torah, Charlotte Jewish Day School, Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte, The Jewish Preschool on Sardis, Charlotte Jewish Preschool, and Charlotte Torah Center. A representative from each of the organizations will have the honor of filling an arm of the menorah with coins prior to the lighting. The entire collection will be handed over to Jewish Family Services and Crisis Assistance Ministry after the lighting ceremo ny The menorah lighting event will take place on Sunday, December 13, at 6 PM inside Schools Jewish Preschool on Sardis Festival of Fun SouthPark Mall at Circle Court (between Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus). There will be an exciting array of Chanukah activities for children, Jewish holiday music, and delicious doughnuts and drinks for all to enjoy.
