The Academy, in Greensboro, NC, is America’s Premier Jewish Pluralistic College-Prep Boarding school. The Honor Society was formed to identify the most out standing 8th grade Jewish students from around the world. The search has produced hundreds of applica tions. “To be named a member of the American Hebrew Academy Honor Society is a great achieve ment,” says Mark Spielman, Director of the Honor Society. Matthew was chosen by the selection committee because of his compassion and caring nature, leadership experience and com mitment to Jewish community; Madeline was chosen for her very impressive academic record and her participation in musical and artistic activities, including dance, quilting and painting, while Miriam was chosen for her aca demic ability, volunteer work and commitment to Jewish life. All three are enrolled in Charlotte’s Consolidated High School of Jewish Studies. During Scholars weekend, all honor society nominees will engage in an exceptional program on leadership. All honor society students will be acknowledged at an induction ceremony and have the opportunity to win one of five annual scholarships worth $20,000 a year to attend the American Hebrew Academy.
