r It's what being Jewish k. feels like. EWISH^ FEDERATIONS OF GREATER CHARLOTTE www.jewishcharlotte.org Being Jewish to me is a lot lile camping. There's always a sign at the campground that says "Leave this place in as good or better condition than it was when you arrived." To me this is the essence of Tikkun Olam, and it is what inspires me to support our community. After living in Detroit my entire life, I accepted a job transfer that brought me and my family to Charlotte. Six months after our move, we celebrated Pesach at our new home, not as strangers in a strange land, but with new friends from our adoptive Jewish community in Charlotte. It was one of the most enjoyable holidays I can remember. MARK WEINTRAUB Every day, I get texts, phone calls, chats and Facebook messages from my best friends in Atlanta, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, even Israel. These are people that I met through youth group events and summer programs, people that I have shared some of the most incredible emotional and spiritual experiences of my life with. Our lives have scattered us all over the world, but there are two things we will always have in common: our love for Judaism and our love for each other. MADDY FRUMKIN My father, who is almost 80, said that the second happiest day in his life was watching me become an adult bat mitzvah as part of Temple Beth El's Anshei Mitzvah class (the happiest day of his life was when he married my mother!). When my son Gus became a bar mitzvah and my daughter Katie a bat mitzvah, and we handed down the Torah from grandparents to parents to grandchildren. I, too, experienced the happiness and pride of L'dor V'dor, from generation to generation. AMY LEFKOF CONNECTION IDENTITY Every day of the year, the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte works with hundreds of local, national and international agencies to transform lives and deliver hope, dignity and comfort to millions of Jews here at home, in Israel and around the world. Please consider a gift to our 2011 Annual Campaign, and know that you're making a difference in so many lives. It's what being Jewish feels like.
