It brings us closer to one another and our Judaism. We enjoy the Shabbat services and programs that JFS arranges for us.” Jewish residents of Sunrise Senior Living “There was one place where I could help close the enormous void that opened when Bea Gibbs died. I volunteered to continue her tradition of offering a Friday night service at the Carriage Club. Most of those who come to these short services have difficul ties attending services in the syn agogue for different reasons so together we create a feeling of Shabbat. JFS volunteers bake challah and JFS provides grape juice for the kiddush which is very appreciated. Susan Aizenman and I take turns lead ing the monthly services as it ensures the continuity of the mitz- vah. Teens from Havurat Tikvah surprised us one Friday. They joined in prayer and brought their homemade challah. Each bubble received a beautiful breaded chal lah and were delighted to take them home. Leona Lefkovitz told me that it made her Shabbat spe cial. The experience has enriched me as well. The spirit of Shabbat remains with me for a long time afterwards.” Amalia Warshenbrot If you have a little time, then we have the mitzvah for you.
