Chanukah, Oh Chanukah
On Thursday December 15, sen
ior adults involved with Jewish
Family Services, Celebrating Life,
and Oasis filled Gorelick Hall for a
festive and musical Chanukah
party. This year, 124 senior adults
plus one dozen volunteers enjoyed
an exciting afternoon together.
This was our biggest Chanukah
party to date.
The room was filled with activ
ity, excitement, and happy individ
uals who spent time with one
another dancing, laughing, and
enjoying themselves. The Jewish
Family Services Chanukah party is
one of the few times each year
when isolated seniors living on
their own or in long term care com
munities can come together and
feel a sense of togetherness and
Jewishness. We sang and danced to
our favorite catchy klezmer and
Yiddish tunes performed by Viva
Klezmer!
We were honored to have our

Goldman, lead us in reciting the
blessings over the candles as we lit
the menorah. Handmade wooden
menorahs, dreidels, and gelt deco

made new acquaintances, reunited
with old friends, and completely
relished our time together. Our
senior adults received a special
Chanukah gift from our devoted
