The Charlotte Jewish News - February 2012 - Page 20 Esteemed Author Rabbi Jeff Salkin to Serve as Beth El’s Sadie Levin Scholar-in- Residence Join Beth El for a Shabbat of inspiration and study with Rabbi Jeffrey Salkin. Rabbi Salkin founded Kol Echad: Making Judaism Matter, whieh is a bans- denominational eenter for adult Jewish study. He is the esteemed author of many books from Putting God on the Guest List, whieh inspires parents to infuse the b’nei mitzvah experienee with spirituality and meaning, to his book Being God’s Partner: Plow to Find the Hidden Link Between Spirituality and Your Work. Salkin speeializes in bringing the wis dom of Torah to the daily and modem lives of Jews today. On Friday, Febmary 17 at Beth El’s 8 PM serviee. Rabbi Salkin will share a sermon entitled “A Date With God” through whieh he will share the mystieal, most sean- dalous and most seintillating images of our liturgy. On Shabbat morning, February 18 at 10 AM, Rabbi Salkin will lead a Torah study entitled “The Gods Are Broken” through whieh he will show how Abraham’s shattering of his father’s idols shaped the Jewish response to the world. Rabbi Jeffrey Salkin graduated from State University of New York at Purehase with a Baehelor of Arts in soeiology.
