Hebrew High-Lights: CHS
Students Focus on
Philanthropy and Advocacy
For the first time this year, a
select group of 10th graders, will
join Post Confirmation for the
B’tzavta program. Created by our
own Tair Giudice, the program
teaches American teens about cul
tural differences, tzedakah, and
community. Through Skype,
Facebook, and volunteering, they
make new friends on both sides of
the ocean. To make this class even
more exciting, all participants will
have the chance to travel to Israel
this summer and meet their Israeli
counterparts. Then the Israelis are
coming to Charlotte to see how
their American friends live. This
teen exchange is sponsored by the
Jewish Federation of Greater
Charlotte.
One of the goals of Hebrew
High’s Post Confirmation class is
to create a group of young Jewish
leaders who are passionate about
Israel and capable of advocating
for the Jewish state. To cultivate
this skill, the outstanding teachers
of Post Confirmation, Andrew
Bernstein and Tair Giudice,
employ the David Project curricu
lum. This curriculum was
designed to inspire strong voices
for Israel on campuses throughout
the US. The David Project is com
mitted to building Jewish leader
ship; increasing the support for
Israel on campus; strengthening
the pro-Israel and pro-Jewish
forces; and working in partner
ship with Jewish school programs
to incorporate Israel advocacy
and leadership skills into their
curricula.
Our oldest students are prepar
ing for a bright Jewish future.
With the preparation they receive
at Hebrew High, they will be
strong advocates for Israel and
great philanthropists at home. If
