The Charlotte Jewish News - March 2012 - Page 3 ^2012 Main Event with Rabbi Brad Hirschfieid Event co-chairs Scott and Steve Menaker welcomed over 400 people to The 2012 Main Event featuring Rabbi Brad Hirschfieid, President of CLAL, the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership. Rabbi ^ Hirschfieid shared personal stories that underscored the ^ premise of his book “You Don’t Have to Be Wrong for ^ Me to Be Right.” ^ Also speaking was Jon Hannan, Fire Chief and Homeland Security Director for the City of Charlotte, who talked sincerely about his experiences on a P2Gether firefighters’ mission to Israel. The mission included three firefighters from Charlotte, nine from other southeast communities, and their chaperone Corey Riddley, Security Director for Shalom Park. Chief Hannan spoke from his heart as he thanked the Jewish Federation for sending him to its sister city Hadera and other parts of Israel and updated our Jewish community on the state of preparedness of firefighters in Israel. Donors who pledged at the event made a world of dif ference for the 2012 Annual Campaign which benefits Jews in need at home in Charlotte, in Israel, and in over 70 countries around the world. With their generous sup port the Jewish Federation raised over $100,000 for the Annual Campaign. Attendees also responded enthusias tically to a generous one-time $15,000 matching gift opportunity presented by the Luski, Gorelick, and Schwartz families to match new gifts and increases dol lar-for-dollar.
