Gifts may inelude monthly payroll dedue- tions, as well as annual gifts. Some eompanies will even mateh gifts made by retirees and spouses of employees. Most of these programs mateh eontribu- tions dollar for dollar, and some will even double or triple the amount of the gift. In addition to providing greater support for the Jewish eommunity, your matehing-gifts donation offers other benefits: For employees: You will be aeknowledged at the reeogni- tion level that ineludes your employer’s mateh. For example, if you make a donation of $500 to Federation and your employ er’s matehing gift brings the total eontribution to $ 1,000, you will be reeognized at the $1,000 level and therefore be eligible to attend an event that requests a minimum suggested gift of $1,000. For employers: Donations reeeived from employers through their matehing-gift pro grams are fully tax-deduetible by the employer providing the matehing gift. Matehing gifts are eredited to the employer pro viding the gift, but also should be eross-refereneed on the employ ee’s aeeount. How to Aequire Matehing Gifts 1. Cheek with your eompany’s Human Resourees department to see if a eharitable Matehing Gift Program exists. 2. If the answer is “yes,” ask for a Matehing Gift Form and eomplete your portion. (If the answer is “no,” talk to your HR Direetor and suggest the eompa ny eonsider sueh a program.) 3. Complete the Matehing Gift Form and submit to the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte, 5007 Providenee Road, Suite 101, Charlotte, NC 28226, Attn: Emily on or before June 1, 2012. Courage and Compassion: A Panel Discussion with the Bielski Family, April 18 at 5:30 PM, Levine Museum of the New South In eonjunetion with the Courage and Compassion exhibit at Levine Museum of the New South, Assaela Weinstein, wife of Amnon Weinstein and daughter of one of the Bielski brothers who established and led the partisan eommunity in the forests of Belarus, along with other deseen- dants of the Bielski family, take part in a panel diseussion on the history of the Bielski partisans. Violinmaking Masterclass with Amnon Weinstein, April 21 at 2 PM at UNC Charlotte Center City Building, Free Internationally noted Israeli violinmaker Amnon Weinstein is involved in violin projeets around the world, working with orehes- tras and artists both in Israel and abroad. Mr. Weinstein learned his eraft from his father, and then studied in Cremona with Pietro Sgarabotto, Giuseppe Omati, and Ferdinando Garimberti and in Paris with Etienne Vatelot. Winner of the Gold Medal and a eertifieate for violin sound at Salt Lake City in 1982. He is a mem ber of Entente International des Maitre Luthiers et Arehetiers d’Art, a member bienfaiteur de Groupement des Luthiers et Arehetiers d’Art de Franee, and a member of the Violin Soeiety of Ameriea. Open to violin owners, eollee- tors, and enthusiasts, this work shop will be led by Amnon Weinstein and his son Avshalom.
