Family Founded in 1980, Jewish Family Serviees has evolved from an ageney serving Jewish Russian immigrants, seniors, and the finan- eially needy to one that provides a full range of eounseling and soeial serviee assistanee to the entire Greater Charlotte eommunity. Today, Jewish Family Serviees eollaborates with every Jewish ageney in our eommunity, as well as many ageneies throughout Charlotte. While the programming and serviees of Jewish Family Serviees has ehanged over time, the ageney’s eore mission has not: Jewish Family Serviees strength ens and empowers individuals and families through professional eounseling, programs and serviees inspired by Jewish values. In May, JFS will launeh its “Family to Family” annual eam- paign. Formerly known as the “Friends Campaign,” our new eampaign name eame as a result of evaluating the work we do in the eommunity and reeognizing that we have beeome more than friends with our eommunity, we have beeome family. Family is the eore of what JFS does and who we serve. As our slogan says, Jewish Family Serviees is “the heart of our eommunity.” But more than that. Family is the heart of Jewish Family Serviees. JFS plays an integral part in the lives of eountless families in the Charlotte area. From therapeutie groups for ehildren experieneing /nsurance for Home, Muto, Business and Life. “My father, Harry, founded Swimmer insurance Agency nearly 60 years ago offering security to the community and helping families through times of trouble. Today, we continue that tradition of service with everything we do. We will be there for every milestone, every hardship and every transition your family or business experiences.” - DflVlD SWIMMER Swimmer Insurance Agency 725 Providence Rd Charlotte. NC 2B207 704.333.6694 www.swimmerinsurance.com social issues, to coun seling for the young adult starting out on a life of independence, to parenting classes and workshops for fami lies, to providing connections between senior adults and their out-of-town family members, JFS’ positive and pervasive impact can be felt everywhere. What is the Family to Family Campaign? Funding for JFS programs and services are received through three primary sources: allocations from Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte and program grants; client fees and insurance reim bursements; and contributions from our donors. Of these sources, over half of our $750,000 budget is funded directly from contributions from our generous donors. Donations to our annual cam paign are used to set the budget for the next fiscal year, dictating the programs and services we are able to offer to the community. The generosity of our community makes it possible for Jewish Family Services to meet the grow ing numbers of those who seek our help. “The economic reality of non profit agencies such as JFS is that insurance payments and client fees cover relatively little of the true cost to deliver the services our clients require and deserve,” said Stephanie Starr, JFS Executive Director. Consequently, JFS turns to our community to make up the shortfall. “Ensuring that JFS con tinues to meet basic family needs, while retaining the flexibility to address emerging needs, is at the heart of the Family to Family annual campaign,” Stephanie added. Be Part of the Family Your tax-deductible gift to the 2012 Family to Family annual campaign gives you and your fam ily the opportunity to join JFS in ensuring stability, dignity and compassion to all members of our community for generations to come. Your pledge will help people help themselves. Your gift will counsel the children who are watching their parents divorce; it will pay the utility bill for the young couple who lost their jobs; it will provide companionship for homebound adults and secure Shabbat services for those in assisted living. And it will allow this important work to continue into the future. JFS Family to Family volun teers will be calling the communi ty to talk about the campaign, starting in late May.
