The Charlotte Jewish News - February 2013 - Page 25 CJP Thrives Through Partnership By Elka Bernstein, Director I have always been taught that we are partners with God. God ereated this beautiful world. It is our job to work with God to main tain and eontinue God’s beautiful work. From the very beginning, we are taught the strength of part nerships. The Charlotte Jewish Presehool uses the strength of partnership to provide a sehool with an exeeptional early ehild- hood edueation program. As most people know, CJP is a partnership of Temple Beth El, Temple Israel, and the Sandra and Leon Levine Jewish Community Center. Rabbi Murray Ezring, Rabbi Judy Sehindler, Rabbi Jonathan Frierieh, and Rabbi Noam Raueher provide strong guidanee, ereative programming, training, and daily interaetion with our stu dents to ensure that the Judaie eur- rieulum is fully immersed into the elassroom eurrieulum. Phil Berman’s strong team at the LJCC provides professional support to the administration and teaehers of CJP, as well as exeellent enrieh- ment programming for our stu dents. The founding members strive with CJP eaeh year to ereate a quality program for our young Jewish families. Our founding members are represented by the partieipation in our sehool, as well as representation on CJP’s Board of Direetors. Our Board of Diree- tors works hard to provide the sehool strong leadership and di- reetion. Leading our Board of Di reetors this year are: Brian Bernhardt, President Brando Levine, VP Administra tion & Seeretary Susanna Goldberg, VP Finanee & Seholarship & Treasurer Jennifer Collman, VP Fund De velopment In addition to the exeeutive eommittee, we are thankful to all our board members: Barry Bo- brow, John Box, Andrea Davids, Ken Golder, Matt Goldstein, Jodi Greenwald, Jaek Levinson, Staei Mond, Tamar Raueher, Joe Steiner, Erie Wisotsky, Debby Weiss, Raegan Wright, and Julie Rizzo, Immediate Past President. However, the support does not end here. CJP is infused with par ents dedieated to providing their ehildren with a loving, nurturing and edueational environment. CJP’s Parent Teaeher Organiza tion (PTO) is an internal partner making sure the needs of our stu dents are met. CJP’s PTO is not just a group of moms that get to gether every onee and a while to plan book sales, but play a vital and influential role in the sueeess of CJP. Our PTO is driven to provide soeial eonneetions for our pre sehool eommunity, as well as fi- naneial support. Thanks to the PTO, the teaehers have eontinued to reeeive elassroom supplies and materials to enhanee the quality of elassroom instruetion. The PTO’s eontribution also eontinues to allow CJP to have a minimum of two teaehers per elassroom; a lead teaeher and an assistant teaeher. For example, the state ratio of teaeher to students in a two year old elassroom is 1:10. Imagine one teaeher managing to teaeh 10 two year olds. At CJP, PTO’s eon tinued support allows CJP to maintain to provides three teaeh ers to a elassroom with 15 two year olds; a 1:5 ratio. Quality is what drives our fabulous Parent Teaeher Organization. Leading the PTO this year are: Jodi Greenwald - President Liz Greenhagen - Viee Presi dent Mae Philpott - Treasurer Jessiea Demeter - Seeretary When walking through our halls, you ean see the PTQ eom- mittees and ehairpersons hard at work.
