At Temple Beth El, we also mark “speeial deeade” birth days and anniversaries with bless ings from the elergy. Most seeular birthdays, however, are generally overlooked in Judaism. The 70th birthday is different. In Psalm 90, the phrase “the days of our years are threeseore years and ten” is used to deseribe human lifespan; thus, we eelebrate the 70th birth day as a full life, and at age 83 we eelebrate a seeond bar/bat mitz vah. nil TEMPLE BETH EL Our yearlong festivities began at the January kiekoff with a spe eial oneg after the Martin Luther King, Jr. Shabbat serviees. In Feb ruary, we marked our Lifelong Learning Weekend with the an nual Arthur Tirsun Edueation Shabbat honoring religious and seeular teaehers. We weleomed baek Rabbi Jeremy Barras and Rabbi Mieah Streiffer as our Sadie Levin Seholars-in- Residenee, who brought learning to life with many speeial worship and study programs. Throughout 2013, the eelebra- tion eontinues.
