Open Gates for Prayer ... and Open Doors for High Holiday Worship
This year, Havurat Tikvah’s
September takes on the speeial
shine of a Silver Anniversary. If
you’re looking for a plaee to wor
ship, we invite you to join us for
our 25 th year of lay-led High Hol
iday serviees, as well as a year
long sehedule of Shabbat and
holiday eelebrations, edueational
and soeial programs, and tzedakah
projeets.
As always, we weleome new
faees and have no High Holiday
fees for first-time guests, eollege
students, and members; free ehild-
eare is available for holiday serv
iees.
Our Rosh Hashanah serviees
begin on Thursday, September 5
at 10 AM in the Avondale Presby
terian Chureh Fellowship Hall at
2821 Park Road. We’ll end the
morning with a pot-luek luneheon
(kosher, dairy/parve, and peanut-
free) and then meet again for a
mid-afternoon Tashlieh serviee
(time and plaee to be announeed).
Serviees for the 2nd day of
Rosh Hashanah start at 10 AM on
September 6 in the Aitken Class
room on the Avondale Presbyte
rian Chureh eampus. Onee again,
we’ll eonelude the serviee with a
pot-luek luneh and a ehanee to
share New Year’s greetings with
old friends and new aequain-
tanees.
A full sehedule of Yom Kippur
serviees begins with Kol Nidre on
Friday, September 13 in the Avon
dale Fellowship Hall. Please ar
rive by 7 PM for seating by 7:15.
We reeonvene on Saturday at
10 AM in the Fellowship Hall for
Yom Kippur morning prayers,
ending with a Yizkor/Healing
serviee (12:30 PM, time approxi
mate). We eome together again at
6:15 PM for a non-traditional
Mineha gathering. This year’s
Mineha eelebrates Havurat Tik
vah’s history with a foeus on
member stories, holiday memo
ries, and group diseussion.
We follow this with a 7 PM
Neilah serviee and a festive break-
the-fast pot-luek (kosher,
dairy/parve, and peanut-free).

on Saturday September 21 (eon

ber 26 at the Fellowship Hall on
the Avondale Presbyterian Chureh
eampus. Dr. Charlie Brown, Haz-
zan at Gastonia’s Temple
Emanuel will lead us as in song
and danee.

Temple Solel Religious
School Prepares for
Second Year
Temple Solel, a Reform eon-
gregation in Ft. Mill, SC, is eur-
rently registering students for
weekly religious sehool elasses
for the 2013-2014 sehool year.
Classes are set to begin in Sep
tember and will run till early June.
Temple Solel has deeided to
give parents another option by
holding elasses on weekday
evenings instead of the traditional
Sunday, to allow for families to
have more time together on the
weekend.
Temple Solel’s Religious
Sehool offers programming for
Kindergarten through 12 th grade
with B’nai Mitzvah training.
Using the ISJL Edueation Cur-
rieulum, students revisit key eon-
tent areas with inereased sophisti-
eation as they progress through
the eurrieulum.

Solel
Temple Solel will again be eel-
ebrating the High Holidays, with
a Reform lay led serviee, using
the fully transliterated Maehzor
“On Wings of Awe.” Yom Kippur
serviees will be offieiated by a
visiting rabbi. All serviees will be
