Along with starting the new sehool year, our ehildren will be- eome aequainted with the Jewish New Year and all the holidays that quiekly follow. The Charlotte Jewish Pre- sehool was fortunate to send our amazing Judaie teaeher, Morah Beeea, to the NewCAJE (Coali tion for the Advaneement of Jew ish Edueation) eonferenee in Dudley, MA. This eonferenee is an opportunity for Jewish eduea- tors of any denomination to eome together in a eollaborative ex- ehange of ideas. For four days, Morah Beeea worked with Jewish edueators and eollaborated to im prove sehool elassrooms and les son plans. NewCAJE energized Morah Beeea with exeiting ideas for the upeoming sehool year. With the new sehool year upon us, it is vital that we hit the ground running with renewed vigor and energy. It is fitting that at the be ginning of our sehool year we eel- ebrate Rosh Hashanah. It is a great time to ereate elassroom goals with our students and fellow edueators so that we ean work to ward aehievement throughout the year. While we are off to a very busy start, Morah Beeea along with our elergy will make the hol iday learning experienee fun, in- teraetive and edueational. All our students from the ones to the fives, will all hop aboard the L’Shanah Tovah Choo Choo. Eaeh stop of the L’ Shanah Tovah Choo Choo will take us on a ride through September as we explore the start of the new sehool/Jewish year. Students will toss away their “baggage” and blow the shofar to announee their arrival at eaeh sta tion. The L’ Shanah Tovah stations will also introduee our students to Sukkot and Simehat Torah so they ean get a taste of eaeh holiday that makes the beginning of our year speeial and exeiting. As we take a ride on our train, our fours and PreK will be the Chariotte Jewish Preschool first elasses to experi enee our new initiative to teaeh ehildren to stand up and support friends when they see an injustiee. With the help of a very speeial CJP parent, Jenny Tueker, we were able to ereate a program that is age appropriate and positive for our young students. Jenny Tueker has many years experienee as a teaeher and sehool eounselor. Our new Kavod eurrieulum eomes from our reeent Joined in Edueation program. Stand Up to Bullying. After hear ing Lee Hirseh and Barbara Col- orosa speak, we were energized to find a way to teaeh our presehool- ers kavod (respeet), and chesed (kindness) for eaeh other. This eurrieulum is a great kiekoff to our holiest time of year where we refieet on the past year and refieet on how to be a better person. Our Kavod program will provide a hands on experienee, as well as, aeknowledgement of proaetively looking for opportunities to be a good friend. Another benefit to attending NewCAJE was the eonneetions made by Morah Beeea. She be- eame part of a soeial networking group for early ehildhood eduea tors. As a member of this group, she will have the opportunity to stay in elose toueh with her peer group and swap ideas as often as needed. She ean pose questions to other early ehildhood edueators and help others with the knowl edge she has garnered by working at the CJR The new knowledge and eonneetions made at New CAJE will benefit all our families and staff With the High Holy days quiekly approaehing, CJP would like to wish everyone L shanah Tovah Tikatevu V’taihatem, may you be inseribed and sealed for a good year.
