Rabbi Nesenoff is an American rabbi, independent filmmaker, singer/songwriter of contemporary Jewish music, and blogger. He has been inter viewed and quoted in The New York Times, has written a col umn published in -The Wash ington Post, and has appeared on Fox News and CNN’s Reliable Sources program. Nesenoff gained international attention in the summer of 2010 when he posted his candid video with Helen Thomas on his web site. It immediately went viral, getting over one million hits on YouTube within 48 hours. Helen Thomas was forced to resign her job over the interview and her comments, and Nesenoff received over 25,000 pieces of hate mail, including several death threats. David’s story is full of excite ment yet, told with warmth and humor. Everyone ran to the door as he passed. He greeted us swiftly as he moved along, and I turned to the person next to me and said, ‘That’s Bill Clinton!’ The man said, ‘1 know. I’m Joe Biden.’’’ Rabbi Nesenoff was deeply moved and forever changed JLI Will Be Promoting Jewish Medical Awareness with a New Course in Charlotte The Charlotte Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) will present Life in the Balance: Jewish Perspectives on Everyday Medical Dilemmas. The JLI’s new six-session Fall 2013 course will begin on Tues day, October 25, for the evening class and on Wednesday, October 26, for the morning class. Rabbi Yossi Groner will con duct the six-eourse evening ses sions on Tuesdays at 7 PM, and Rabbi Shlomo Cohen will conduct the six morning sessions on Wednesdays at 11 AM at the Lubavitch Educational Center, 6619 Sardis Road. “Nowadays, at some point or another, everyone faces an ex tremely difficult medical decision that they aren’t equipped to han dle,’’ said Rabbi Zalman Abra ham, one of the JLI’s course authors. “Our objective with this course is to acquaint the public with fascinating Jewish perspec tives on some of the most cutting- edge dilemmas in medical ethics.” In Life in the Balance, partici pants will ponder ethical questions through his Helen Thomas in terview experience. He has traveled to over 100 cities around the globe to share first hand, what he has taken from the incident and how anti- Semitism plays a role in the media, our society, and how we respond to it as Jews.
