Nesenoff gained international attention in the summer of 2010 when he posted his eandid video with Helen Thomas on his web site. It immediately went viral, getting over one million hits on YouTube within 48 hours. Helen Thomas was foreed to resign her job over the interview and her eomments, and Nesenoff reeeived over 25,000 pieees of hate mail, ineluding several death threats. David’s story is full of exeite- ment, yet told with warmth and humor. Here’s a quote from an ar- tiele he wrote deseribing the mo ments leading up to his Helen Thomas interview: Rabbi David Nesenoff “On May 27, 2010, I stood in the White House briefing room with my eell, ealling, very speeif- ieally, anyone and everyone I knew, bragging, ‘You’ll never guess where I am!’ Suddenly, I saw former president Bill Clinton walk by. Everyone ran to the door as he passed. He greeted us swiftly as he moved along, and I turned to the person next to me and said, ‘That’s Bill Clinton!’ The man said, ‘I know. I’m Joe Biden.’” Rabbi Nesenoff was deeply moved and forever ehanged through his Helen Thomas inter view experienee. He has traveled to over 100 eities around the globe to share first hand, what he has taken from the ineident and how anti-Semitism plays a role in the media, our soeiety, and how we respond to it as Jews. To hear the rest of Rabbi Ne- senoff’s story, you’ll need to join us on Sunday, November 24, at the Sam Lemer Center for Cultural Arts.
