The Charlotte Jewish News - April 2014 - Page 19 New JLI course to be^in in May at Ohr HaTorah Paradigm Shift: Transformational Life Teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe ([Congregation MaToraln Paradigm Shift is an elevator ride to the heights of what is pos sible. Synehronize yourself with the mission for whieh you were plaeed on earth, and learn to ree- ognize the inherent goodness and perfeetion in yourself, in others, and in every eireumstanee of your life. Distilled into six sueeinet les sons, this empowering eourse of fers a revolutionary outlook on life, ended from the wisdom of the Lubaviteher Rebbe, Rabbi Menaehem M. Sehneerson of blessed memory. Paradigm Shift is a novel way to look at life’s ehallenges and use them to transform oneself. It is the ultimate optimist tool in dealing with real life situations and using them in a way to advanee good ness and kindness in your own life and in your personal sphere of in- fluenee. The Rebbe’s leadership began in the most tumultuous time of the 20th eentury. European Jewry was at an all time low as it was just after the devastation of the Holo- eaust. Eastern Europe Jews were elosed off behind the Iron Curtain as it was at the beginning of the eold war. In Ameriea, the ehal- lenge was assimilation, disen- ehantment with the establishment, and a passionate pursuit of mate- rialistie sueeess. In addition, the naseent State of Israel was struggling to adjust to its new reality while it was ab sorbing hundreds of thousands of new immigrants. It took a unique perspeetive of a new eourageous and visionary leader who was to shake up the Jewish world and ehange its land- seape in a way that no one imag ined. The ehange began with one individual, the Rebbe of Lubav- iteh, who inspired many who went on to inspire many and eventually the inspiration went global. Today, Chabad has beeome a global foree of Jewish life with over 4,000 Chabad emissaries around the world. These emis saries personify the optimistie vi sion of the Rebbe and have brought life and light to the most remote plaees on earth by revital izing Jewish eommunities and building personal relationships in a non-judgmental way with peo ple of all baekgrounds even with those who have fallen out of Jew ish life. This eourse will reveal the “se- eret formula” that drives and in spires young people to have aspirations beyond their own en- riehment to the point where they leave the eomforts of their home and eommunity and venture out to new uneharted territory where they are armed with optimism and positive sense of hope and a dose of reality and sueeeed to ehange the landseape. Paradigm Shift will help every individual realize their full poten tial in life as it is a eourse geared to the individual who is seeking to improve their life and to find inner peaee within themselves in an honest way and a praetieal road map. The eourse helps ehange our outlook on how we see ourselves, the Jewish eommunity, and the global eommunity. The six week eourse is sehed- uled to begin on Tuesday May 13, 7:30 PM for the evening eourse and Wednesday May 14, 11 AM for the daytime eourse. Evening eourse will be taught by Rabbi Yossi Groner and day eourse by Rabbi Shlomo Cohen. The Jewish Learning Institute has revolutionized Jewish adult edueation by bringing Jewish knowledge in a thought provoking way and allowing partieipants to taekle issues of the day based on the rieh repository of Jewish ideas that have been formulated over the past 3,000 years. Paradigm Shift has the prom ises to have a positive impaet on its students and has the potential to provide a life ehanging experi- enee.
