The Charlotte Jewish News - June-July 2014 - Page 3 I I t I I I t I I I i Linda Seigel to Receive Kipnis-Wiison/Friediand Award at International Lion of Judah Conference This Faii Several of Charlotte’s Lions of Judah will be traveling to New York City in September to attend the International Lion of Judah Conferenee. The eonfer- enee, whieh draws nearly 2,000 of the world’s leading Jewish women philanthropists, will be held at the Marriott Marquis Times Square. The Lions of Judah are a di verse group of women philan thropists giving $5,000 or more in their own names to their loeal Federations. In Charlotte, 60 women demonstrate their phi lanthropy and leadership at this level. At the 2014 International Lion of Judah Conferenee, one woman from eaeh eommunity will be honored as the reeipient of the Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award, named for Norma Kip- nis-Wilson and Toby Friedland, the founders of the Lion of Judah, and reeognizing extraor dinary women who have set a high standard for philanthropy and volunteerism. The Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte is proud to name Linda Seigel as its hon- oree for the 2014 Kipnis-Wil son/Friedland Award. Linda follows in the footsteps of the four previous distinguished winners from our eommunity: Bobbi Bernstein, Jill Newman, Staey Goreliek, and Traey Brown. Linda Seigel is an inspiration both as a eommitted lay leader and a highly regarded profes sional woman in the world of fi- nanee. After beeoming a Lion of Judah and endowing her gift in 2003, Linda beeame an aetive Federation lay leader serving as Chair of the Finanee Commit tee, Treasurer of the Board of Linda Seigel Trustees, Major Gifts Chair, Annual Campaign Chair, and valued member of the Alloea- tions Committee. Linda’s keen intelleet, ability to think strate- gieally, and visionary leader ship - eoupled with her love of the Jewish eommunity and de sire to make the world a better plaee - benefitted our Jewish Federation and eampaign dur ing an uneertain eeonomy. Fler partieipation in JFNA General Assemblies at home and in Is rael, plus her engagement with our Partnership eommunity pro vided Linda a global perspee- tive of Federation’s impaet around the world. In addition to her work with Federation, Linda served the Jewish eommunity as Treasurer of the Foundation for the Charlotte Jewish Community, and eurrently serves as Viee- President of the Foundation of Shalom Park. Linda, a graduate of the Wharton Sehool of Business, moved to Charlotte from Philadelphia with Waehovia in 1997, and is a Managing Diree- tor at Wells Fargo.
