This new event was very well re- eeived and will be a weleome ad dition to the CJFF’s efforts toward year round programming. As two attendees eommented: “It was a niee surprise after the regular season and I was able to view one of the few films I missed during the main festival. The extra eare to this evening, popeom, ete. was a fun addition and mueh ap- preeiated.” “The atmosphere was terrifie ... The popeorn, eandy, and drinks were also a wonderful sur prise. Keep up the good work.” The day began at 2 PM with the showing of Life in Stills, whieh ehronieles the journey of a grandmother and grandson as they fight to save their legendary photo shop. At 4 PM, event organizers pre sented an eneore sereening of the 2014 Audienee Favorite award winner, 50 Children: The Rescue Mission of Mr. and Mrs. Kraus. The film tells the story of a eouple who reseued 50 ehildren during the Holoeaust and brought them safely baek to the United States. The last movie of the day at 7 PM was an eneore presentation of one of the most popular films of the 2014 CJFF. When Jews Were Lots offilm festival fans came to be appreciated on CJFF’s Fan Appreica- tion Day Funny explores the history of Jewish eomedy and identity from the Catskills to today. Fan Appreeiation Day marked the offieial end to the CJFF’s 10th Anniversary eelebration but plans for 2015 are already underway. The new season kieks off this fall with a renewed partnership with the Levine-Sklut Judaie Library. Dates, times and all the exeiting details will be announeed soon. To this end, the Levine JCC has launehed a eapital eam- paign to raise neeessary funds to wards advaneing these goals, thus strengthening our eommunity for the present and into the future. This initiative. The Together We Can Campaign, is established to upgrade and enhanee our eampus to allow for our eontinued growth, while ereating the neeessary re- sourees to maintain and endow our faeilities. Sinee our initial opening in May 1986, and with further reno vations eoneluding in 2004, the Levine JCC, as part of a eampus of intereonneeted ageneies, has beeome a eenter for Jewish life in Charlotte. Through our state of the art fitness faeilities, our extensive programs designed for every age group and interest imaginable and our ehildren’s eamps and pro grams, the Levine JCC provides the highest standards of serviee possible to reaeh every member of our eommunity. Through our seholarship, outreaeh and Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World) pro grams, we ensure that every single person who eomes through our doors has the opportunity to par- tieipate and engage as a weleome member of our eommunity. The Levine JCC has grown by over 3,800 members sinee the 2004 renovations were eompleted. We eurrently serve over 4,400 Jewish members and our goal is to be proaetive in providing eontin ued outstanding faeilities, pro grams, and serviees to support this growth. Thus, the Campaign seeks to address these needs in a timely manner keeping us in a leadership position within our eommunity and the eommunity at large. Some of the major projeets to fall under this eampaign will inelude the renovation of the Aquaties Com plex, improving the loeker rooms, upgrades to Camp Mindy, updat ing the elimate eontrol system, and the expansion of program spaees. This eampaign is also erafted to build the Community Endowment whieh benefits all ageneies on the Park. The ulti mate goal established to meet these needs is $8 million dollars. Sandra and Leon Levine, Julie and Howard Levine, and Lori and Erie Skint have kieked off our eampaign with their support in the amount of $3.6 million dollars - whieh will be held as a matehing grant to our eommunity. Their eontinued leadership and vision are in keeping with our eolleetive desire to keep Shalom Park and the Levine JCC as a vibrant and integral part of our lives today and for future generations. The Together We Can eam paign goes beyond the raising of funds for faeility and program- matie enhaneements. The Levine JCC seeks to broaden the base of support and understanding of the eommunity, to be a stimulus for organizational pride, to foster Jewish eommunal fellowship and eommunity aetion, to motivate re newed eommitment, and to de velop new leaders who want to play a part in the eontinuation of building a healthier and aetive eommunity. Now, more than ever, we stand together to this ealling. We are now asking you to eon- sider helping us to advanee the vi sion of the Levine JCC.
