The Charlotte Jewish Preschool Roars into March Like
a Lion and Exits Like a Lamb

rector
The year is just flying by at the
Charlotte Jewish Presehool. The
teaehers eannot believe it is al
ready Mareh. The saying is true -
Time flies when you are having
fun. The fun eontinues as we enter
into our spring months. The letter
“P” will pop up all over the plaee
at the The Charlotte Jewish Pre
sehool as we enjoy learning and
eelebrating Purim, Pajama Day,
and Passover.
As CJP students get ready for
the holiday of Purim, you eould
get lueky and see a Queen Esther
or Unele Mordeehai parading
around the halls of Shalom Park.
Our students and teaehers will be
telling the story of Purim through
puppets, dramatie play, and of
eourse, eating hamantasehen.
Many erowns and groggers will
be made, as we dress up as our fa
vorite eharaeters. If you dress up
like Haman, get ready for the
“boos.” We invite parents and
friends to wateh our parade on
Friday, Mareh 6 and listen as the
noise from our groggers announee
our arrival. The smell of hamen-
stasehen will permeate the sehool
eorridors as we bake our very own
eookies and fill them with top
pings sueh as aprieot, strawberry
preserves, and ehoeolate ehips.
We also eelebrate Purim by the
giving of Shalaeh Manot baskets
to our friends. Pint-size Esthers
and mini-King Ahashueruses will
be sauntering through the halls of
the LJCC, Levine Sklut Judaie Li
brary, Jewish Family Serviees and
Jewish Federation of Greater
Charlotte, as well as, to eaeh other
elassrooms distributing goodies to
eaeh other.
Our year would not be eom-
plete, without our annual Pajama
Day. I am not sure who enjoys this
day more - our students or are
teaehers. It is so mueh fun eoming
to sehool/work in pajamas and
slippers. From learning Jewish
bedtime rituals to bouneing on
beds to learning about noeturnal
animals to eating paneakes. Pa
jama Day is full of learning and
fun.
Shortly thereafter, Charlotte
Jewish Presehool begins to learn
about Pesaeh. The elassroom will
be transformed into Egypt. In
Egypt the CJP students will work
as slaves to build the pyramids.
Many babies will be floating
down the Nile River. And the
plagues will deseend and spill
over the sensory tables in the
elassrooms. As the Mareh sneaks
out quietly, the ehildren will pre
pare for their sehool Seder. Every
one wants to partieipate in our
delieious Seders ineluding
Sammy Spider who has to be told
over and over again that “spiders
don’t eelebrate Passover, spiders
spin webs!” Classes diseover sei-
enee as they make their own
haroset with delieious apples and
grape juiee. Fine motor skills will
be honed as they ereate deeor for
the tables with Seder plate plaee-
mats, Elijah eups and frogs. For
gross motor fiin. Pharaoh will lead
our 4s/5s in a slave walk. Move
ment and imagination eome alive
as Miss Patty and Morah Beeea
lead the ehildren in their very own
Seder with lively musie as we
sing our way through the Hag-
gadah. But, don’t forget, CJP
teaehes our students to be teehno
savy. Our students are better di-
reetors than Steven Spielberg. Our
four year old elasses along with
PreK will produee a Passover film
of the Passover story. What, you
ask, are the four questions? Just
eome to Miss Carol, Miss Lois,
and Miss Stephanie’s PreK elass
to hear them reeite the four ques
tions and ask, “Why is this night
different from all other nights?”
Of eourse before Pesaeh aetually
arrives, the sehool will be
serubbed and all ehometz re
moved.
The Charlotte Jewish Pre
sehool - in like a lion. We will
learn of the strength of the Jewish
people through our history and go
out like a lamb as we eelebrate our
vietories with family and friends
and retell the stories of our her
itage. At Charlotte Jewish Pre
sehool, our teaehings beeome
your traditions.
Have your ehild enjoy speeial
days like Purim, Pajama Day, and
Pesaeh. The Charlotte Jewish
Presehool is eurrently enrolling
