Alan epitomizes the meaning of broth erhood and makes those around him want to strive to be better people. Alan served as a member of Brotherhood’s Board for over a deeade. During that time, he helped the Brotherhood and Tem ple Beth El in nearly every way imaginable, from working Broth erhood Casino Nights to working the grill to feed our youth group and from ushering at Temple serv- iees to serving as Brotherhood President and on the Temple Board. Alan is always reaehing out to others and plaeing their needs ahead of his own. He believes in and loves his Jewish faith. Temple Beth El, and the Brotherhood and lives his values. What really makes Alan exeeptional is how mueh he eares about other people. He’s the first person to weleome a guest at a Brotherhood or Tem ple event helping to ensure that everyone feels like part of the eommunity. He spends eountless hours working to strengthen Brotherhood and Temple Beth El and his hard work has led to a thriving Brotherhood that offers an opportunity for fellowship and provides meaningful support to the Temple. His eompassion ex tends well beyond Shalom Park. For example, Alan and his wife. Merle, have led the effort to pre pare and serve breakfast at a shel ter on Christmas morning for the past 17 years. Though Alan left the Brother hood Board, he didn’t stop earing or eontributing. Along with the first Man of Distinetion award winner, Howard Epstein, and with help from Amy Weingarten and Barry Ezarsky, Alan has overseen the development of the Brother- IP TEMPLE BETH EL ' rtf■ ^J^rti'tfAi .Ait/.
