FREEDOM SCHOOL PARTNERS Sbolom Pork Freedom school CJDS in Israel (Continued from pagte 13) from the Dead Sea to Masada. One thing that stood out to me was when we were in the central region at the Dig for a Day arche ological site. We entered the cave. All it looked like was bunch of dirt in a musty underground cave. As we sat down, the tour guide told us about the cave. It was actually 2,000 years old and from the Hanukkah times. The woman had the pots and glassware stored in that very spot thousands of years ago. So we broke up into groups Insurance for Home, Auto, Business and Life. At the hotel. and started digging. At first some people were wary, but after a few minutes, everyone was down and dirty. People found pottery, clothespins, and even a whole handle. Petrified wood was also in the mix. When we walked out, I thought everyone was proud to have touched something that was so important to one person over 2,000years ago. When we were in the cave, it felt like being trans ported back in time. But as we stepped back into reality, I felt that although 1 was dirty, it helped me see into Israel’s past. Sasha Levine shared with us that the Kotel left the strongest influence on her: My favorite part of our trip to Israel was putting notes into the Kotel. All of my class made notes for me to put in the Kotel walls. I put my note in the wall, but there were a lot more notes put in the wall than I expected. The wall was overflowing with every single crack. I felt like this was our home and this is where we belong. Ifelt that it was where all of the Jews were meant to be, but they’re all around the world. I also noticed something weird about the Kotel. I looked at the women’s side and it’s a lot smaller than the men's side. It’s also a lot different. Everybody’s singing and dancing on the mens side. On the women’s side, everybody is praying silently. But Israel is my home. ^ CJDS Receives Graut for Scholarship Fuudiug “My father, Harry, founded Swimmer Insurance Agency over 60 years ago offering security to the community and helping families through times of trouble. Today, we con tinue that tradition of service with everything we do. NC 28207 704.333.6694 WWW.swimmerinsurance.com Charlotte Jewish Day School is a proud recipient of a grant of scholarship funding from the Legacy Heritage Emergency Fund for Jewish Education established to ease the financial burden of par ents and schools in providing a Jewish education to children liv ing in small and medium sized American Jewish communities. Mariashi Groner, Head of School, is particularly gratified as “this represents recognition of the im portance of Jewish education in communities of all sizes. Funds of this nature have previously been restricted to larger Jewish commu nities with multiple schools. It is nice to know that no matter the size, Jewish foundations and fun ders recognize the importance of Jewish education. Thank you to the Legacy Heritage Emergency Fund.” While the grant is only for one year, its impact will enable CJDS to continue delivering ex emplary Jewish education to the students. ^ LEGACY LERITAGE FUND
