A new beautiful women’s Mik vah is open to the Jewish eommu- nity of Greater Charlotte. A eelebration of the new Mikvah is planned with a grand opening on Monday, February 29, 7 PM at the Chabad Edueation Center at 6619 Sardis Road. The Mikvah was built by Chabad of Charlotte, with the help of Mikvah USA and other anony mous donors. The open house will eelebrate the luxurious new Mik vah whieh is to the delight of many Jewish women of Charlotte and surrounding areas in the Car- olinas. At the event, whieh is open to men and women, tours of the new Mikvah will be eondueted and materials explaining the use and meaning of Mikvah will be avail able. The evening will feature a delightful buffet, and some musi- eal entertainment. The grand opening eeremony will also inelude an inspiring lee- ture on “The Sensual and the Sa- ered,” presented by Miriam Lipskier, a Chabad emissary at Emory University, in Atlanta. The Mikvah deeor is inviting and meant to set the tone of an inti mate spiritual experienee for the Mikvah user. This new develop ment will allow those observing this speeial mitzvah to immerse in the beautiful Mikvah’s purifying waters in a serene setting while aehieving ritual purifieation. It is noteworthy the importanee of building a Mikvah, even higher to the importanee of building a synagogue. Although the syna gogue is seen as the eentral insti tution in Jewish life, yet Jewish Law states that eonstrueting a Mikvah takes preeedenee over building a house of worship. Ae- eording to the Talmud, Mikvah is at the foundation of Jewish life in a eommunity. The new Mikvah will allow partieipants to be linked with Jew ish women throughout the ages and fulfill a mitzvah that brings holiness and beauty to Jewish life. A speeial thank you goes to Mik vah USA for partnering with this projeet. The Mikvah will be named Mikvah Mei Leah, to honor the memory of Lillian Rot- tenstein, who was Mikvah USA’s major donor for this projeet.
