Take the amount you give an nually and multiply it by 20. If you establish a gift in that amount, then the interest will result in an ongoing annual gift. For example, if you regularly give $100 to the JFS Family to Family campaign, and you establish a gift for $2,000 ($100x20), JFS will receive $100 every year after your death, and it will continue forever. What an honorable way to support the causes that have been important in your life. The lectern, located in the Mindy Ellen Levine Chapel in the Ceme tery’s new Memorial Building, is a gift from the Fink family to the Cemetery in memory of beloved wife and mother, Nancy Fink. Robert Fink, age 89 and a retired exec utive from Gilead Manufacturing, says he discovered the need for a new lectern at his wife’s funeral, while his son, Andy, was giving his wife’s eu logy. When Mr. Fink returned home, he contacted the son-in-law of a neighbor, a gifted wood worker, Patrick Daly. Daly, an HRIS business analyst by profession, has extensive expe rience with furniture making, car pentry, and metal working and was excited to take on this project. He conducted research on Jewish traditions and visited the new Me morial Building prior to making sketches. “The lectern is solid cherry, while the Stars of David are hand cut (by me) from lOO-l- year old pine salvaged from a manufactur ing plant near Charlotte. They are located on each side of the legs. The inspiration for the legs came from the menorah while the space in between is similar to a candle flame and shines light on the Star of David and symbolizes the legacy of Nancy. She was the light The lectern donated by the Fink family. and rock of her fam ily.” “The lectern is a lasting testament to my wonderful wife, Nancy,” says Mr. Fink, “and she would be very pleased that this pieee will be use ful to others.” Mrs. Fink, a native Charlot- tean, is remembered for her dedication to her three children, Andy Fink, Cathie Fink Wallace, and Susan Fink Ramano, as well as for her beautiful contralto singing voice. Mrs. Fink shared her love of music for over 40 years as a member of the Temple Beth El choir. May is a wonderful month to visit the Cemetery. The freshly- landscaped Blumenthal Garden to the right of the main gate offers many pathways and trees for a lovely stroll. The cool air-conditioned space at the Memorial Garden has a water fountain and bath rooms. Visitors will find over 300 memo rial plaques recently installed on the walls of the Mindy Ellen Levine Chapel. The Hebrew Cemetery offers a plethora of history lessons for young and old. From the tomb stones under the towering oaks in the historical section to the newer sections near the Memorial Build ing, there is always something to be learned when visiting these sa cred grounds. The Hebrew Cemetery is grate ful to the Fink family for honoring Nancy Fink’s memory with a beautiful new lectern. Are you looking for a way to honor or me morialize someone special? Please consider supporting our eommunity eemetery by making a gift of $1000 for a memorial plaque or crafting a legacy gift in your will through the Create a Jewish Legacy program. Another way to help is to join the Hebrew Cemetery’s 600+ members, who contribute annually to the Ceme tery’s maintenance. Membership is only $72 per year. Members may preplan their funerals, which in itself, is a wonderful gift to one’s loved ones.
