The group visits the Kotel. Chad Purcell: While we were in Israel, we went to so many in teresting plaees. My favorite plaee that we went to was the Dead Sea. It was so eool to be able to naturally float and eover your body with soft mud. We also went to many in formational museums sueh as the Palmaeh Musuem, the Immigration Detention Camp, the Hall of Inde- pendenee, and Yad VaShem. I learned so mueh at all of these plaees about the history of Israel and Jews around the world. The old eity of Jerusalem was when I felt most eonneeted religiously. The Western Wall was sueh a eool experienee and was truly unforgettable. In Israel, I also enjoyed visiting the various underground tunnels. It was so amazing to see the aneient path ways that were built thousands of years ago. We hiked a few moun tains ineluding Mount Carmel, Mount Herzl, and Mount Masada. I loved seeing the gardens on Mount Herzl and Mount Carmel. Our sunrise hike up Mount Masada was also so amazing. What made this trip even more memorable was being able to stay with two Israeli families. I loved learning about their daily life, eul ture, and of eourse the food. Also, I made so many friends from Is rael and from eities aeross the Southeast US. Limor Goldsmith: I would like to start by saying how amaz ing this trip was. This was one of the best summers of my life! This trip was truly a onee in a lifetime opportunity to tour a eountry so rieh in eulture and his tory with teens our age that are na tive to the eountry. While in Israel, we got the ehanee to see and experienee so mueh in what felt like sueh a short amount of time. We went to Masada, the Dead Sea, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and so much more. The Dead Sea was my favorite. It was so unlike anything we have here in the United States. We also went to several eye-opening mu seums that taught me a lot more (Continued on next page) CONTENTS Jewish Family Services Community News pp. 17,18 pp. 19, 23 Federation News PP-1-8 Jewish Community Center. pp. 20, 21 Synagogues/Cong pp. 9-12 High Holidays ..pp. 24-27, 29 Women’s News p. 13 Dining Out p. 26 Levine-Sklut Judaic Library .. p. 14 Youth Visions p. 32 Schools ...pp. 14,15 Mazel Tov pp. 33,34 I would like to make a contribution to demonstrate my support of The Charlotte Jewish News.
