2017 Main Event
The Levine Leap Inspires Donors to Pledge the Most in
Main Even History!
The Jewish Federation’s 2017 Main
Event, held on Thursday, Deeember 8,
2016 at Temple Israel, was a night to re
member.
Main Event eo-ehairs David and Debra
Van Glish weleomed nearly 600 people to
the event whieh featured guest speaker
Joshua Malina, east member of “West
Wing” and “Seandal,” who deseribed
himself to our generous donors and eom-
munity leaders as a performer seeond and
a Jew first. In his speeeh “How to Remain
a Menseh in Hollywood,” Joshua Malina
linked his strong Jewish upbringing to his
support for the great work the Jewish Fed
eration does throughout the loeal and
worldwide Jewish eommunity. His solid
Jewish identity and passion for Israel
were key elements of his warm, witty,
smart and very personal remarks. Follow
ing The Main Event, Joshua Malina was
graeious and eharming as he posed for
endless photos with both devoted and new
fans.
The Main Event is the offieial kiek-off
to the Jewish Federation’s 2017 Annual
Campaign, and David Van Glish took the
opportunity to announee the 2017 Cam
paign goal by saying, “To meet the needs
of our entire eommunity. Federation is
working its way to a $4 million eampaign
with a goal this year of $3,750,000. Ad-

mittedly, that’s a lot of money... .but it en
ables us to thrive in this amazing Jewish
eommunity we eall home.”
David eontinued his remarks with the
following exeiting announeements, “And
to jump start us on our way, I am honored
to announee that The Leon Levine Foun
dation is making a gift of $706,000 to our
2017 Campaign! Please join me in thank
ing Leon and Sandra Levine for their eor-
nerstone gift to our eampaign whieh
demonstrates their profound eommitment
not only to the Federation but to eaeh and
every one of us as well.
