Tem ple Solel has been a long-time supporter of the home, finaneially and through volunteer efforts sueh as tutoring. The craft gives our members time to interact one on one with the children. They are more than happy to talk about gifts they received for the holidays while they make their keepsakes. Temple Solel’s volunteers then served a hot lunch of chicken and homemade macaroni and cheese, along with fruit and some home baked cookies. The children really enjoyed the food and company, some even coming back for sec ond helpings. This was the second year Tem ple Solel has served Christmas lunch. “It feels really good to allow the staff to enjoy some time with the children and not have to worry about serving and cleaning; they work hard for these special children,” said Temple Solel Pres- Serving Christmas lunch at the Children’s Attention Home ident, James Fox. The congrega tion is eager to serve a meal for the children and staff again and hope to make this a more regular event for Temple Solel and the At tention Home. ^ Temple Kol Ami Welcomes Rabbi Ana Bonnheim to Lead Congregation “Find yourself a rabbi” teaches our Mishnah. A Jewish commu nity needs a rabbi to teach and guide them. Temple Kol Ami of Fort Mill, SC is thrilled to an nounce that Rabbi Ana Bonnheim will be joining us to provide rab binic leadership to our congrega tion and the York County Jewish community. After spending a wonderful Shabbaton weekend with Rabbi Bonnheim in Decem ber, TKA knew that we had found our rabbi. “We believe a rabbi is the heartbeat of a Jewish commu nity,” stated Bonnie Shaw, TKA president. “We are so excited to welcome Rabbi Bonnheim to our congregation and continue to grow with her.” Rabbi Bonnheim will be lead ing Temple Kol Ami in Friday night Shabbat service (and actu ally started in January). She will be with TKA as follows: February 3, March 17, April 7 and May 19. For an honorarium. Rabbi Bonnheim is also available to of ficiate at a wide range of life cycle events including baby namings, weddings, funerals, unveilings, and b’nei mitzvah. Rabbi Bonnheim is a graduate of Dartmouth College and re ceived her rabbinic ordination from Hebrew Union College- Rabbi Ana Bonnheim Cincinnati. She previously served at Temple Beth Emeth of Sher man, TX and as associate rabbi at the URJ Greene Family Camp in Dallas. She recently relocated to Charlotte with her husband. Rabbi Asher Knight of Temple Beth El, and her two young sons. She brings with her unbounding en thusiasm for Jewish education and deep knowledge of the liturgy. Temple Kol Ami looks forward to partnering with her and develop ing a strong relationship for many years to come. Temple Kol Ami is also hum bled to have again received the Impact and Innovation Fund Grant from the Jewish Feder ation of Greater Charlotte. With this grant, TKA will con tinue to bring quarterly Shab- batons to the Greater York County area in partnership with the Institute of Southern Jew ish Learning’s Rabbi on the Road program. In 2016, TKA hosted three highly successful Shabba- tons, each including Friday night Shabbat service, Torah study, Havdallah/cultural programming and Sunday school religious education. We are so pleased to host these weekends of prayer and enrichment in 2017 for the York County Jewish community through the generosity of the Federation.
