Gail Baron, eo-ehair of the Lion of Judah eam- paign, introdueed the program by saying, “We dedieate today’s program and our 2017 Lion of Judah Campaign in remembranee of two beloved Lions of Judah: Patty Gore- liek and Rose Luski. May their memories be a blessing to us all.” Sandra Levine and Sue Worrel were ealled upon to pay tribute to their friends Patty and Rose, and their heartfelt words touehed everyone in the room. New Lions Amy Vitner and Judy Raghaven were ree- ognized and weleomed into the Lions’ Den; while new Pomegranates Melanie Brown, Joan Kirsehner, Lynne Sheffer, and Lyba Rousso were presented with their Pome granate Soeiety Pins. Guest speaker Lisa Friedman Clark, introdueed by Lion of Judah Co-Chair Stephanie Gitlin, shared her poignant story of how she “daneed through raindrops” while walk ing the fragile line that separates us as Federation donors and Federation recipients. Pomegranate Co-Chairs Jenny Rosenthal and Bonnie Tangalos updated the group on Lion-Pom aetivities - the Lion-Pom Book Club and the upeoming Mini- Mission to Birmingham, AL. Bonnie artieulated their experi- enee as leaders of the Pomegran ate Soeiety by saying, “We eouldn’t be more thrilled with the fantastie response we are having to our Lion-Pom Events. Jenny and I both know from personal experienee that Federation is not just about raising money; it’s also about building eommunity. The more we have partieipated in Fed eration events, the more we feel eonneeted to different members of the eommunity. Jenny grew up in Charlotte and I am new to the eommunity, and this has added a new dimension to our lives and it ean for you, too.” Arlene D. Sehiff, National Di- reetor of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation’s Life and Legaey program, thanked those women who have ereated legaey gifts to benefit the Jewish Federation, and eneouraged all in attendanee to eonsider ereating their own gifts to benefit the Jewish Federation after their lifetime.
