The Charlotte Jewish News - February 2019 - Page 2 JEWISH FEDERATION NEWS Jewish Federation Announces the 12th Class of the Bernstein Leadership Group Applications Now Available at www.nextgencharlotte.com The Donald H. and Barbara K. Bernstein Leadership Develop ment Group (BLG) of the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte is getting ready to recrait for its 12th class. BLG was started in 1996 by Don and Bobbi Bernstein to pre pare the next generation of lead ers to help ensure our Charlotte Jewish community remains thriv ing and adaptable to the changing Jewish landscape. The 18 month leadership pro gram aims to foster a participant’s Jewish identity, broaden knowl edge about the Charlotte Jewish community and build leadership skills. Participants will take part in tzedakah, tikkun olam, and ini tiatives with Jewish continuity. Together, the next BLG class will learn about the history of Jewish Charlotte, the various Charlotte Jewish agencies and issues facing our community and communities around the world. The program also includes bringing in inter nationally renowned speakers as well as specialist in the fields of communication and leadership training. Past participants include cur rent Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte board president, Alli son Lemer, and board members of various Jewish orgaruzations, including The Charlotte Jewish Preschool, Jewish Family Ser vices, and the Levine Jewish Community Center. In addition to developing a deeper connection to and understanding of the Char lotte Jewish community, partic ipants also cultivate meaningful relationships with group mem bers by participating in a week end retreat, team building exer cises, social activities, and group discussions. BLG is for 25-45 year olds with a desire to learn more about and become involved with the Charlotte Jewish com munity.
