QCQ Halloween Ball
Kicks Off Hot Weekend
Three nights of Halloween parties are
going to make Oct. 30-31-Nov. 1 the

The weekend starts with the QCQ Hal

Oct. 30; continues with Halloween night
parties at all bars on Oct. 31; and fin

people age 18 and up on Saturday,
Nov. 1.
Prizes will be flowing freely.
QCQ plans to award costume prizes in
various categories with a total of $200 in
value. Among them will be a night for
two at the Blair-Bowden bed-and-break-
fast house in Fourth Ward and a $50 gift
certificate at Everything on East.
Traditional Halloween parties with
costume prizes will be the order of the
night for the bars' own events.
And people 18, 19 and 20 will have
an opportunity to attend a party when
Tags opens for the first time on Saturday
since July. Of course, anyone age 21

No alcoholic beverages will be sold.
Atlanta Chorale Comes
To Charlotte On Oct. 4
The Atlanta Lambda Chorale will ap
pear for the first time in the Carolinas at
the Unitarian Church of Charlotte, spon
sored by QCQ, on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 8
p.m.
Since its formation in 1984, the group
— composed of men's and women's
voices — has performed for diverse
occasions ranging from the Hotlanta
River Expo to a convention of the gay
Evangelical Outreach Ministries, One of
its highlights was performing in the
mammoth Atlanta block party "Light Up
Atlanta."
'The Charlotte performance will in
clude everything from Vivaldi's "Glo
ria" to "Memory" from the Webber/Rice
hit musical "Cats." Besides choral sing
ing at its finest, solos, duets and quartets
will also be performed.
The repertoire ranges widely, cover
ing the challenging literature of the
classics to the sparkling syncopation of
Broadway. Part of the Charlotte pro
gram will be Pachelbel's "Canon in D,"
the traditional "Shenandoah," the
famed spiritual "Sometimes I Feel like a
Motherless Child" and the folk favorite
"All My Trials."
"We draw our members from the wid
est possible spectrum of the commu
nity," said Bob Grice. "We have mem
bers who have moved to Atlanta from
Oregon, Maine and points in between.
Some are from North Carolina, includ
ing Charlotte.
"We've been looking forward to the
trip for some time," he said. "It'll be a
treat not only for our audience, but also
for us."

The freedom to share caresses — verbal and physical. So many times, we do it only
when we're making a sexual advance. That's what we've learned as men. You've experi
enced it at bars — afraid of talking to others because of self-doubt. And at dinner par
ties and dates. Perhaps even with lovers.
Cay and bisexual men can break that tiring old pattern by learning new levels of self
esteem — even those who already feel they've mastered it. That's what happens at
Connections workshops. The techniques are no secret. In a safe, nurturing environ
ment, they totally encourage learning and practicing self-esteem and nonthreatening
intimacy.
Freedom is the payoff. Freedom to be who you are — and to love who you are, possibly
for the first time. New freedom from paralyzing fear of rejection. Wonderful freedom
to communicate and interact truthfully, nonjudgmentally.
Sample it. Come to an introductory workshop. Two hours of your time. Then judge
whether a Connections weekend can make a profound difference in your life.
