They plan to have dinner at a local restaurant once a month and plan one other monthly activity such as a walk in the woods, picnic or attend ing a play, movie or concert. Boenke is planning to edit and publish a book of collected writings by parents, siblings, children, partners and other relatives of trans persons. Submissions should not be by trans persons themselves, though they may as sist and coach others. The working tide is “Our Trans Loved Ones.” Submissions should be positive and accepting, but may describe the journey getting to that acceptance, between 1000 and 2000 words. Poems and other lengths also will be considered. Prior writing experi ence is not required. The Second Annual Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) Con ference will be held October 31 - November 2 at the Oakland Mariott City Center in Oak land, CA. The conference strives to include issues of sexual orientation in K-12 schools. Individuals and organizations are invited to submit proposals for workshop sessions. Witten, Ph.D., co-director of the International Longitudinal Transsexual and Transgender Aging Research Project (ILTTARP), is attempting to address the lifecourse needs of the transgender community. One component of the project is an attempt to formally document the healthcare needs and experiences, experiences with violence and abuse, and general demography of the “T” com munity. A comprehensive survey has been com piled to help make an accurate international demographic description of the “T” commu nity. “T” people includes pre/post-op trans sexuals, transgenders (individuals who live full time in their non-natal gender) whether they are on hormones or not, cross-dressers, trans vestites, agendered, individuals with other gen der perceptions, dual spirits, and any non-West- ern gendered viewpoints. All work is medically confidental and is anonymous. Surveys come in stamped, pre-addressed envelopes so that the sender cannot be identified. The ILTTARP has been approved by the University of Michigan School of Public Health Institutional Review Board. It is sponsored under the aegis of the Comprehensive Gender Services Program of the University of Michigan Medical Center. To re ceive the survey, send a complete postal mail ing address to Tarynn M.
