the drag rag '>1 Literature • Etiquette • Multimedia • Internet fany Arieagus who won regionals in Florida; Zori Zannell, who won Indiana, with RU Alana Dupree Steele (Top 12 finalist from last year); and Syimone, who won Miss Bluegrass (another finalist from ’98). You better come on and go with us, girl! It will be fierce! My most sincere best wishes to Daisy Deadpetals who gives up her first national title! Following EOY will be Miss NC America at Scorpio August 18-21. The most recent pre lim was Miss Asheville, which Anjelica Dante won; her RU was Detra Penucci from Char lotte. Just two more to go: Charlotte and Cabarrus County. On the national level, Naomi Knight won Western States and her RU was Celia Putty; Miss Niagara, Celebrity Starr; Queen City, Laken Edwards; Central States, Truly Fabu, and Miss Gay DC America, Sabrina White. The reigning Miss USofA at Large, Dena Cass, has moved from Chicago to Rock Island, IL (where my sister Dana St. James is), and is covering the country for her prelims. Recent winners include Indiana, Leslie Ryan, with RU Sybil Ann Storm; Crossroads, Chevelle Brooks; Missouri, Alicia Markstone; Georgia, Ivy White, with RU Monica Layne; and Miss West Virginia, NC’s Shelby “Damn” Daniels and RU Chelsey Nicole Stevens from Louisville, KY. The owners of the Solar System pageant in Greensboro announce a change in queendom: Paisley Parque is the new girl in charge. And speaking of stars and such, did you think you’d actually read a Drag Rag after the month of May without a mention of Miss USofA Erica Andrews? Surely you jest! She’s a goddess and is looking to do a long weekend in NC in Sep tember or October. Prepare yourself now! In closing, we’ll discuss the placements at the Miss Liberty pageant held in Atlanta...4th RU, Maxine Sinclair Blue; 3rd, Paula Sinclair; 2nd, Victoria “Model the Hell Out of that Sportswear” Parker; 1st, Tasha Long; and the by Miss Della Q-Notes Staff Howdy, and welcome back to the one place where a crown will get you all the attention you need. (If you wear it well, that is!) You’ll be glad to hear this may be a short one, since I am in the middle of changing residences. Who cares? There’s drag to report on! I was recently reminded that I never did mention the winner of Miss Scandals in Asheville; her name is Roxy Hart, and I under stand she’s quite talented. We have a couple new girls on the scene in NC who are turning it out these days: Misty Blue from Fayetteville just won a contest at Legends and brought revival to the children, and I was able to see Luscious, Scorpio’s new diva, in a show a couple weeks ago, and I have a good feeling about that dancin’ queen, too! I guess if Big Mama B is her drag mother, that makes her my niece? Not sure there. Y’all old girls better step to the side, new blood’s coming through. Don’t get left behind, baby! Speaking of old girls (oh, I feel a reading coming on), Scarlett Dailey recently had the distinction of being the first female impersonator to host the 19th Crepe Myrtle festival in Raleigh and was afterwards named to the planning council for next year. She got a fierce Queen Amidala cos tume out of it, too. Congrats, Skillet! Our pic this time is of Michelle Dupree, who reigns as Miss Continental for about five more weeks. Her most recent prelim winners include Miss Tennessee, Mokha Montrese; Miss Indi ana, Xviara Cuffey Colby Snow; Miss Toronto Continental, a queen by the name of Diva; Miss Wisconsin, Fontasia L’Amour (my roommate Ben-El insists that I mention that she was first RU at TN — she’s one of her faves); and Miss Alabama, Alexis Gabrielle Shearrington. Michelle has been asked to go to — of all places — Morocco to perform for the Prince. More details as I get them. It’s all about going from one crown to another, I say! The National Entertainer of the Year pag eant is the next national taking place, to my knowledge, in Louisville, KY, August 12-15. Contestants that I have yet to mention include Whitney Paige, who just won Miss Texas, and her RU Victoria West; Tamisha Iman and Tif- Hollywood Continued from previous page Steve Hayes at the film’s Outfest ’99 premiere in Los Angeles.
