She brings years of activism and organiz ing to Grassroots Leadership serving as the diversity co-chair and national femde diversi ty co-chair for the Human Rights Campaign addressing concerns in the LGBT community. She also serves on the Board of Advisors for the Charlotte Lesbian and Gay Fund. Mayfield worked for the American Red Cross for over six years in their financial department and volunteered in Disaster Services prior to join ing Grassroots Leadership. Eastern Walk it out for a cure FAYETTEVILLE — The Fayetteville LBT Meetup group will host a spaghetti dinner to help support one of its members’Avon Walk for Breast Cancer on June 6 at 7 p.m. One of its members wants to honor the memory of her grandmother, who died last year at the age of 90 and was a survivor, by par ticipating in the 39-mile walk on Oct. 24-25 in Charlotte. However, in order to do so, she must raise $1,800. RSVP deadline is June 4 at 7 p.m. The location of the diimer has not been cho sen, pending the numbers of participants who say “yes” to attending and supporting this cause. Triangle Sing it out DURHAM — The Common Woman Chorus will present a concert entitled “Let’s Go To The Movies” on May 9 at 8 p.m. at Eno River Unitarian Universalist Church at 4907 Garrett Rd. This lighthearted event is chocked full of everything cinematic — popcorn, candy and more — without the movie. World” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” will fill the evening. No one knows that more than The AIDS Leadership Foothills-area Alliance, Inc (ALFA). They have a food pantry which supplements their Ryan White funding for food. Next time you are at the store, consider picking up an extra can or package of food or other necessities to con tribute to this worthy cause. Needed currently are canned meats and soups, laundry and dishwashing detergent, hygiene products, toiletries, cleaning supplies, paper products and cat/dog food. Other items on the ALFA wish list are office supplies and chairs. Volunteers are needed for pantry shop pers, client transporters, scrap booking to update existing scrap books and fair and festival helpers.
