Q-Notes staff A sticky issue what’s up? Not much. Bored. U lookin’? Oh, uh... hi. Didn’t see you there. Let me close my laptop. I was totally just talking to an old friend from high school. Yeah, right, the chorus sounds. This issue is Q-Notes’ first annual S.E.X. Issue. The content inside is certainly Sensual. And, boy, is it Ejrotic. And, I’m definitely Xtatic that this issue’s editorial content is bold and edgy. You know how I like to push the envelope. The Q-Notes staff is hoping this issue will be a landmark — so we’re tal^g the paper’s content to new levels. You’ll have a chance to read about “reality porn” and how it is slowly taking over the tra ditional, big studio porn production compa nies. We’ll explore the world of online cruising, from ManHunt to Craigslist. We’ll offer you some fun and exciting tips for better lovemak ing. You’ll get a peek into Q-Notes’ parent com- pan/s more sordid, adult past life. Our online exclusive content this issue includes a queer sex dictionary and more. The staff is plenty aware that we’ll get some feedback on this issue — some of it will praise the content and some of the feedback will condemn it. Perhaps this issue will prove to be the barometer of just how far that envelope can be pushed in the Carolinas LGBT community. We’re a fairly liberal and progressive bunch, but, no doubt, still plenty Southern. Hopefully, our content won’t infringe on our delicate (and sometimes oh so prudish) Southern tastes. We understand that some of you might be offended by such blatant and open discus sion of sex and sexuality. If you’re among those who’d rather not read such material, we hope you’ll simply pass on this issue and pick up our next street edition, or head online and read only the specific articles you like. For all of you whose tastes ^ow for a bit more flavor, have fun. Don’t think for a second that we didn’t when putting this issue together. As always, send your feedback, comments, questions, rants, raves, complaints and what- have-you to editor@q-notes.com. I Craigslist encounter leads to robbery Victim met accused through site’s “casual encounters” section by Matt Comer . Q-Notes staff APEX, N.C. — A man has been arrested after he was accused of meeting another man through Craigslist and robbing him. Police say Gary Rezendes and the victim met through the “casu al encounters” section of Craiglist and decided to meet in person on April 4 at a Vision Rd. Home Depot parking lot. Sgt. Sean Pearson of the Apex Police Department told Q-Notes that Rezendes was carrying a knife, stole $40 from the victim and fled the scene afterward. The vic tim was unharmed. “From my interview with [Rezendes], he had stated that the whole purpose of being on [Craiglist] was to commit a rob bery, that there was no previous intent of meeting anyone,” Pearson said. “He was on Craigslist initially looking at things to buy and saw the ads in the person als and thought of it as a quick way to make some money by committing a robbery.” Rezendes’ arrest was made on May 18, after police were able to track online conversa tions between the victim and Rezendes. Rezendes is currently in the custody of Wake County officials, under a $50,000 bond. Pearson said Rezendes’ past criminal record includes only property crimes. Craigslist has come under fire recently for its erotic services and per sonals sections. In the past, police across the country have investigat ed prostitution resulting from the online classified website’s adult sections. The site has also attract ed attention as criminals use it to meet robbery victims. In Boston, police are investigating the high profile case of a medical student accused of killing a woman he met through the site. It is suspected he might have attacked two others and possibly targeted men as well. > Gary Rezendes was arrested after robbing another man he met through Craigslist. ^spea.kout^ W ^online q-poll^ Seiul your letter to the etUtor or any other thoughts to editor&q-uates.coiu or click ou over to our website at www.q-uotes.com and join the couversatiou there.
