Movers & Shakers: Meet Team Equality NC Equality North Carolina board and staff members pose for a photo after their 2009 gala in Greensboro. In qnotes' last print issue of 2009, Equality North Carolina (ENC) Executive Director In Palmquist was named our Person of the Year. His hard work and dedication on behalf of LGBT North Carolinians has led to increased awareness in the halls of the state legislature and the success of pro-LGBT legislation, including the landmark School Violence Prevention Act But Palmquisfs success would likely be muted if not for the assistance and dedica tion of his colleagues. Like their head honcho, who's worked with the organization for 10 years, ENC's paid staff and volunteer board lend their wisdom, talent, knowledge and passion to creating legislative and policy progress for LGBT North Carolinians. If the job is logistics, ENC administrative coordinator Shawn Long is your man. Want to mail the group a big fat check, a small donation or simply connect ENC to a poten tial donor, call Director of Development Kay Flaminio. If local or grassroots organizing is more your thing, Rebecca Mann, director of community organizing and outreach, is your guru. This spring, ENC has also welcomed several interns across the state who will assist the group in various functions: Aaron Camp, Western Carolina University (Western NC Organizing); Hillary Waugh, North Carolina State University (Development); Danielle O'Bryan, North Carolina State University (Communications); Jack Grote, Duke (Volunteer Coordination); and Brant Miller, University of North Carolina at Greensboro (Organizing). ENC's board is chaired by Hunter Corn of Raleigh. Their foundation chair is Greensboro's Addison Ore, who also works as executive director of Triad Health Project The ENC Political Action Committee board is chaired by Colleen Kochanek.
